Walden completely ignored Lucius and continued to stand quietly as he listened to Voldemort. The man wasn't a mind reader... unless you were daft enough to look him directly into his eyes. He could always tell when you were lying, so the trick was to choose your words carefully. Not to mention Legilimency worked best when the target is off-guard, relaxed, or otherwise vulnerable. Walden couldn't remember ever feeling relaxed in the company of the Dark Lord.
As Lucius began his speech, Walden resisted the urge to sigh and roll his eyes. Flowery speeches might work well when conning Ministry officials, but they didn't amount to much with this group. At least Rodolpus had the sense to keep things short and to the point.
