Anthony chose to lean against one of the bookshelves as he unwrapped his sandwich. It was still warm! Merlin bless Embyr Rivers. He was eating more bread, true, but it didn't contain any nuts that he was aware of. Also there was meat. Hallelujah.
After he had taken a bit of his roast beef, he watched Embyr begin to dig into her sandwich and he mulled over the questions she had asked of him. They were innocent enough, and clearly only meant as conversation fodder. Still, it was like poking an unhealed wound. It wasn't just that he now had a job so different from the one he really, really wanted. It was also that he had accomplished incredible marks at Hogwarts, received numerous NEWTS, and now was barely being paid over minimum wage. It stung not only his ego, but...well. Mainly his ego.
"I have a two bedroom flat in London. It's expensive, but I want Candice to have a place to call home, you know? I don't want her to come back on vacations and have to sleep on the floor of my kitchen. So, I have a room she's staying in til she leaves for Hogwarts. Maybe a little before then, actually. A friend offered to let her stay for a couple weeks before returning. Really, I think they are just trying to do me a favor."
He frowned. Anthony was not fond of failure. It wasn't something that happened to him, ever. He made sure of that. So why on earth was he incapable of not only providing for himself, but his sister?
"How about you?" he tried in a blatant attempt to change the subject. "Are you going to take your NEWTS now? Can you, since you aren't graduating?"
