Idea 2: Film Noir
Two to Four people can play the tropes: A Femme Fatale, a PI, a danger or a criminal of some sort, and the PI's secretary. A mysterious murder (An NPC) has left a case to be solved. While it might seem obvious who done it, there is always the fun of acting it out.
