James "Prongs" Potter ([info]_cervus_) wrote in [info]timerift_log,
James did his best not to frown when he felt Harry's shoulders tense beneath his grip.

'It's been a long time since I've seen you.'.

It didn't feel right. James knew it must be weird to see your Dad at the same age as you. Of course you'd stare. He knew that there were a million reasons a son might not see his Father for a little while. And maybe war and the prophecy had made him paranoid but he was sure there was an undercurrent here, one that was already starting a low simmer of dread in the pit of his stomach.

He leaned one elbow against the side casually, watching two teabags deposit themselves into the waiting mugs as he considered. "Time travel. Universe jumping. Some kind of magic, although no-one's really sure what and why. The Ministry is putting us up here until they can sort it out." Dragging his gaze back down to that hauntingly familiar face, James shrugged one shoulder, fixing his son with a sharp, probing gaze.

"A few of them didn't look particularly delighted to see me, though. Bit green around the gills, to be honest..."
