There was no hesitance when River reached for her hand to pull her closer, her smile warm as her free hand came up to cup the Doctor's cheek. This Doctor was older, she knew instinctively, even if she hadn't had his previous faces committed to memory. But she wouldn't ask how long it had been. Long enough. It had been long enough for her, too.
"Let me have a look at you." She stepped back only far enough to give her a slow once-over, never releasing her hand, and then her gaze drifted back up to meet her wife's, and she murmured her own, "I've missed you too, Sweetie."
Every regeneration was different. It was always a lottery. The last hadn't cared for being touched, though she'd gotten by with more than most. But many of the others had felt differently. River decided to take her chances, tucking a loose strand of hair behind the Doctor's ear even as she invaded her personal space, soaking up the feeling of being so near her again.
