After the ninth or so drink nabbed from nearby waiters, the room seemed to spin for a bit and Tonks felt a strange trembling through her skin. She tried to speak but for the slightest moment it was like her voice had simply stopped, and she was just distantly aware that all of a sudden her robes no longer seemed to... She frowned. They no longer seemed to fit right. The Auror made a face but in doing so only caused the room to spin harder. Tonks shook her head. She knew she hadn't drank that much, and even if she had she knew she had better resistance than that. The only other thing she'd had was whatever the hell was being passed around from the punch bowl.
When Tonks looked up at Rodolphus she could have.. She could have sworn he'd gotten... taller? Merlin, she'd been working too hard, had to be it.
Her heart was skipping beats in her chest and Tonks suddenly felt distinctly weaker, but Rodolphus leaned closer to her before she could give it too much thought. Wide eyed in surprise under the shadows of her hood, Tonks had to admit. Rodolphus' sudden.. Confidence absolutely took her by surprise. Ofcourse the man had always been arrogant but this was certainly forward, even for him! Oh well, she thought. Maybe knocking the man down a peg or twenty five would take her mind off this suddenly bizarre feeling.
Tonks glared, working up the most scalding look imaginable to match her equally world-shatteringly evil and witty response that was absolutely for certain meant to make the man cry. "Well yeah I enjoy having you around, it just pisses me off that I do and I figure if I bitch at you long enough I'll convince myself otherwise." She took a few seconds to bask in her own glory until her actual words sunk in. Tonks actually gasped, voice suddenly a few pitches higher than she would have liked as she backtracked furiously. Or tried to, at least. "I mean. It was just much easier to poke fun at you when I pictured you as some goatish little man at my aunt's feet. It drives me insane that I can't seem to be around you for more than three seconds without turning into such a bloody girl!"
Oh. Merlin.
Heat exhaustion. Heat Exhaustion. Had to be it, had to be it. She knew these damned robes were a menace! With a deep gulp of air Tonks dropped back the hood on her robe, letting the cool air hit her face. Bright, distinctly unnatural grey eyes widened when she felt her hand tangle in hair that was way longer than it had been not five minutes ago.
