"From behind you, obviously." She mocked with a scoff, trying to ignore what that entailed about her particular perception skills when it came to people sneaking up on her. That or she was either really, really bad, or he was really, really, really good. Eyeing Lestrange, Tonks realised she didn't want to give that one too much thought. But he was right about one thing, that drink really was coming in handy. Tonks gladly took the drink he offered, downing it and eyeing him warily. "Okay, you got me Lestrange. I need to know. How can anyone who is not immediately a fourteen year old girl sound so damn cheery in a ball of all things?"
"Fun!" She gasped, "Fun, he asks! It's a ball! And I'm dressed like a bloody Inquisitor! Fun!" Okay so maybe she was a tad bitter, but despite everything Lestrange's words actually made her stop and grin. "There are very few instances in my life where I'm not working, Lestrange. We're Aurors, we don't really have lives." She shrugged then, looking around the room. Maybe she shouldn't have been talking about such things with a.. Whatever the hell Rodolphus Lestrange classified as under MLE terms nowadays, but after the longest thirty minutes of her life, Tonks was at a point where spilling military secrets was the only natural outcome of this prolonged torture. "They don't expect anything to happen, really. We're here more for the public. After the recent attacks, some people have been getting skittish, and the higher ups figure they might as well put up a show to calm down the civilians." She shrugged, "Still, don't get me wrong, I adore Dumbledore but I have to wonder what the hell the man was thinking when he decided a big crowded ball filled with helpless students and unarmed Order alumni where everyone is essentially packed into one convenient and easily attacked location was a good idea. But the Death Eaters are long gone and all we have wandering out there is a mangy little rat, so we're not really too worried about a potential threat but civilians tend to be a skittish bunch if they don't constantly think they have someone looking over their shoulder."
