Who: Remus Lupin and Sirius Black What: 'Full moon with the flu!' fun, and the morning after. When: 10/8-10/9 evening, and the morning of 10/9. Where: Shrieking Shack and the apartment Rating: PG?
There were five layers wrapped around him, if you counted his sheets, and still, Remus didn't feel warm. He'd arrived back home from Hogwarts and climbed back into bed, resigned to suffer for the night and the next day until the moon. Unable to concentrate on reading and too tired to attempt to write, he switched on the wireless to coverage of a Quidditch match and lay in bed, listening in a fevered daze.
He slept restlessly through the night, waking with a fit of coughs and the feeling that he hadn't really slept at all. Wishing desperately that Sirius or James or Lily were around to fuss, he made himself a cup of tea and some soup, ate as much as he could stomach, and went back to bed. At five in the evening, his alarm woke him in warning of the impending moon rise. He'd need his last dose of Wolfsbane and hoped Sirius would bring it to the Shack. Layering on a worn henley and cardigan with a pair of loose pajama trousers, he prepared himself for the night ahead and Apparated to the Shack, climbing into the dusty four-poster with a blanket he'd brought along, and waited.
James wasn't responding to owls, and Remus suspected it was due to the Pettigrew incident. Perhaps the Ministry had placed certain protections on the Potter family. Either way, it worried Lupin to no end. He held onto some hope that James would show up for the moon, but he wasn't really expecting anyone but Padfoot. Nervously, he eyed the setting sun. Where was Pads and that bloody awful potion? He felt whiny and tempremental...far from his usual state but brought about by feeling ill. This goddamn, ruddy cold!
