Who: Peyton
When: Starts late Friday night, ends Saturday morning
Where: Starts in Lyle's room, ends in EGYPT!
What: Peyton's version of sleepwalking gets her in trouble...
Peyton hadn't been getting much sleep lately. She'd gotten obsessed with a new video game, and was staying up far too late each night with the help of an overdose of caffeine. As if that wasn't bad enough, she was really working hard in her classes, especially in Hope's, to push her abilities further. Oh yeah, she was also getting laid more than normal. It left very little time for Peyton's body to rest and reset itself each day. Such behavior had spelled trouble in the past, and it was about to once more.
Friday evening, she was curled up in her bed reading the new book Ric had gotten her. It was a trashy romance novel written in Arabic. She had to keep referring to a translation guide when she came across a word she'd not learned yet, but overall she was engrossed in the text. The hardest part in learning Arabic, was to remember to read from right to left. She felt as though she was driving in London for the first time.
The book was really starting to get her worked up, and it wasn't long before she finished it and felt the need to get some real action, not just the mental variety. Imagery could only take a girl so far, she needed physical stimulation. Still wearing only her underwear (which were rather girly... hot pink lace) and a practically sheer black tank top, she teleported into Lyle's room (without warning as usual). It goes without saying that they fucked like bunnies until they both passed out.
It wasn't long before her eyes began to move rapidly, throwing her into a deep dream state. Her lack of quality sleep lately had deprived her of the dreams she needed. Tonight, she found herself in a dream that closely resembled her book. She was in Cairo at the height of the Egyptian Revival era of the 1920's, when all of America was clamoring for art deco works inspired by the age of the Pharaohs. Peyton played the part of the lead female character in the novel. She was an American antiquities dealer in Cairo to purchase a few pieces for a wealthy client back in Hollywood. Just as in the book, Peyton ended up falling for an Egyptian art thief, and they had a passionate affair that made her want to give up her life back home and stay in Cairo with him.
The only problem with the dream is that it was actually too vivid. Without warning, Peyton vanished from Lyle's bed and teleported into Cairo for real!
Peyton had done such things before, though she'd never traveled such a great distance. Some kids walked in their sleep, Peyton teleported. The first time it had ever happened was during her first year at TJS. She hadn't made any friends yet, and she was upset that every time she called home, her brother refused to speak to her. One night she was having a nightmare about getting in a fight with him in their backyard, and when she opened her eyes from the dream, she was actually in that backyard. Peyton seemed to be much more powerful in her dream state, because teleporting hundreds of miles wasn't something she could do while awake. Her parents had been forced to put her on a plane and ship her back to school. Over the years she'd teleported to a variety of locations... New York City, San Francisco, Alaska, even Mexico City. But Cairo... she'd never been this far before.
She didn't wake up at first, not until she heard screaming. Peyton's eyes blinked, and they were immediately blinded by the brightness of a sunny day. It shouldn't be so bright in a vampire's room. She sat up, feeling extremely weak, and realized she was dirty... why was she dirty? Looking below her, she saw pale, dusty dirt. She was still naked, but she wasn't still in Lyle's bed. Still very disoriented and feeling as though she was moving in slow motion, she looked around her and saw a crowd of strangers... outside... and buildings she didn't recognize.
"What the fuck you lookin' at?" she snapped at one woman who was pointing and continuing to scream in a language Peyton didn't totally understand... that was the problem with learning a language from books, especially a language like Arabic which was spoken in so many different dialects. All the people around her started to speak louder, some of them saying a few words she recognized, among them were "American" and "Whore." Yeah, that about summed it up.
Peyton got to her feet, only to nearly be knocked down again by a man hurling a rock at her. It hit her cheek hard, and she raised a hand to feel blood. A second rock came flying her way, but she managed to throw her hands out in front of her and stop that one with a weak energy shield. The people screamed again, some of them ran. Pey locked eyes on the man who had hit her with the rock, and she managed to shove him back into a building. Then everyone ran... including Peyton.
She darted down alleys, looking for shelter and clothing and a fucking phone! Finally she stumbled into a marketplace. There was more gawking at the skinny white girl running naked, but she ignored it all. She grabbed an embroidered tunic and a head scarf without slowing down, because the owner of the merchandise cart started screaming at her, probably yelling "thief" for all who would listen. With her stolen clothes in hand, she looked for cover to get dressed. When she found a little alcove that was mostly hidden from view, she scurried into the clothes and took a moment to catch her breath and figure out what the fuck she was doing in Egypt. She realized she must have teleported in her sleep. When was she gonna learn to strap her cell phone to her body at night just in case this shit happened?
She was going to have to steal some cash or a cell phone to make a call, and she prayed to the god she didn't really believe in that she didn't get caught. Employing all her super sneaky skills, Pey did manage to swipe a credit card off a business man trying to catch a bus, and she immediately went in search of a pay phone. She inserted the card and thought for a moment about who she should call. What time was it back home? Who would answer? Rez was such a heavy sleeper, and what if he was with Dizz? She didn't want anyone knowing what had happened just yet. The only other person she knew who had the kind of money she needed... was Lyle. Quickly, she dialed his number.
