Saturday, 11/3/07 Who: Frankie and Nathaniel When: evening Where: the roof What: Instead of being happy on his birthday like a normal person, Nathaniel decides to share the dark secret of his past.
Nathaniel awoke on his birthday and soon grim determination set in his mind. As he showered and dressed, he thought of how things could go wrong and the necessity of telling his girlfriend about the darkest part in his past. It needed to be done. He spent most of the morning rereading his text on dinosaurs to help distract him and before lunch he received a brief call from his brother Adam wishing him a happy birthday. That did wonders to lift his spirits and he went to have a brief meal in the cafeteria. His parents called not long after that and he had a pleasant conversation with them, informing how classes were going. His mother insisted he spend more time with Frankie and her friends so she knew he wanted to be even more involved in her life. That was easily done, Nathaniel told her.
After he spoke to his parents, the hours left until he was to have dinner on the roof passed slowly, but the time arrived at last. He put on his favorite navy blue blazer and headed to the place they agreed upon to meet. And then there she was, as lovely as ever, and Nathaniel greeted Frankie with a gentle kiss. "Hi," he said with a small smile, though his enthusiasm was not to the same degree as normal. They walked to the stairs leading to the roof and Nathaniel took something out of his pocket to help him pick the lock - a skill he didn't use often, considering he learned it from his brother when they were teenagers. It was not long before they found themselves on the roof and sat.
He knew he had to reveal his secret, but a small, selfish part of himself wanted to have a little enjoyment before he did. Nathaniel moved closer to her, eyes their usual intensity. "I'm not ready to eat just yet," he said before he kissed her. The kiss grew more passionate and he took a hold of her waist to shift so that there was little distance between them. This was all he wanted right now, to set him up for what he had to tell her very soon.
