Who: Vinnie, Zevira
When: Tuesday afternoon
Where: The pool
What: Vinnie and Zevira have to talk
After the conversation the night before with Nate and Shizuka, Zevira was feeling no better and no worse than when she first found out that Vinnie "wanted to talk." All sorts of feelings were swishing and swashing around in her stomach. She was nervous because she didn't want Vinnie to leave her, in any sense of the word. She didn't want to lose him as a friend because he was the best guy friend she had ever had--second male friend next to Nate. And she also didn't want to lose him because she genuinely liked him. Even Zevira wasn't really sure what that meant. However, any time she thought about Vinnie she wanted to sigh in that far-off thought kind of way, as though she always was having pleasant day dreams about him. Maybe she liked him more than she wanted to admit? Or maybe she knew it and admit it to herself, but to no one else.
If Vinnie wanting to talk, telling him that would be a disaster.
So instead of worrying about it, she tried to forget. She got dressed in her swimsuit after dinner and stood in front of her body mirror for a long time. Well, thought Zevira. I could look a lot worse. She really didn't look horrible at all! The aquamarine color of the swimsuit and the teal of the paisley pattern brought out all of her pink in a positive light. Even her eyes looked a little more magenta and much prettier. After deciding to leave her hair down in it's half-curl half-straight do, she pulled on a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt, grabbed a towel, and left. Well, all she could do was listen and hope for the best.
At the pool she found no one there but the lights left on. She had written to Jin-Sang ahead of time to ask him to leave it open so they could go in. He was so nice. He said he would be in and out in the afternoon or within his office at night if they needed anything. Zevira put her towel down on a bleacher near the shallow end, stepped out of her flip-flops, and pants. Sitting on the edge, putting her feet in until the water reached her calves, she leaned back on her palms and waited for Vinnie. Please don't hate me.
