"Oh yeah? That sounds cool." Of course the way that she talked about the woman made him want to ask, "Where'd she go? Davia? I mean.. you talk about her in the past tense so.. did she die?" He hoped not. That would not only be a bummer but also lead to another potential spirit that could possibly hover over him and make demands. And he really got tired of that sometimes.
"Yeah, that sounds.. pretty messy." He exhaled a soft laugh. "Lyle said I could stay with them but... I guess I just didn't feel comfortable doing that? I mean I don't really know Lyle and.. his husband is really weird and... kinda scary so..." He made his way over to the futon to sit down, unable to relax, perched on the edge, rubbing his slightly sweaty palms on his jeans as he continued to glance around, looking anywhere but at her. At least until she spoke again.
Kael smiled a little and then exhaled a breath. "Yeah, me too. I mean.. you make me nervous too. But not.. bad nervous just..." He swallowed down a breath and then chuckled as he said, "Like my heart's gonna jump up in my throat, choke me to death and make me puke everywhere." He smiled and then added quickly, "But I know none of that's gonna happen."
