Who: Candi and the new djinn What: Candi lets the djinn out of the bottle! Where: Her apartment When: Late afternoon Rating: PG
Candi sat in her living room staring at the pretty blue bottle in front of her. She had sent Remy a picture of the text on it and he had translated it for her. The vampire had repeated it to him a couple times, away from the bottle. But now she found herself staring at it, curious and nervous at the same time.
"If you are what I think you are little one, I could be unleashing some serious hell on this place..." Candi bit her lip and then smiled to herself. "Oh what the hell, it's not like it hasn't happened before." She knew Remy would probably be mad at her for not waiting for him but Candi didn't care, she was impatient and wanted to see what or who was inside the bottle.
She picked up the cool, glass bottle and rubbed her fingers over the words, saying them the way Remy told her to and waited to see if anything happened.
There was nothing for the longest time, just thought, and then suddenly there was everything. He was ripped from his bottle with a blinding light, and he shouted from it, covering his eyes until his feet his stable ground and he was somewhere again, a tangible place he could see and feel and touch. The cork in the bottle had shot out and magic light and a whooshing rush of noise poured throughout the apartment as the djinn was sucked out, and in a swirl of colors and popping sparks, was dumped onto the floor.
He drew in a breath, then laughed, as the magic and the sparks began to settle. "Wow!" he cried out, looking around with wide eyes.
--- The blonde nearly dropped the bottle as the magic and light shot out of it. She closed her eyes and reminded herself this was probably a bad idea. Once there was no more light or noise and it was very possible she heard a voice. The vampire opened an eye and saw the young man standing in front of her in just really ugly linen pants. Well this was rather interesting.
Since he said Wow Candi assumed the boy knew english and smiled at him while she set the bottle down. "Hi there, I'm Candi...do you have a name?" She asked softly as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, hoping she didn't scare the poor thing.
--- With his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open, he turned slowly in a circle, looking around. Everything was so different than last time. Almost drab, in a way. Not as colorful as he remembered. "Wow," he said again, more to himself this time. And finally, after the shock wore off, he noticed a woman standing there. She was pretty, and she looked warm and inviting. But he remembered, all too soon, what everyone wanted from him, and his expression fell. She was going to ask things of him and then, when he disappointed her, she would send him back into the bottle. Maybe he could stall for a while this time.
"Name?" he repeated, trying to remember what that meant. Oh yes, what he was called. "No," he told her simply. Enlgish was her language, so he used it. He knew a lot of languages, and English was very easy. "You wanted me to give you things? Name them, I will grant them."
--- The boy seemed fascinated with the apartment for a moment, Candi didn't see why, it was a drab place but Remy liked it and honestly as long as she was protected from the sun she was good. Although it did have large art prints and photographs on the wall to make the space more interesting. When he had turned to face her, Candi smiled at him, mouth closed since she didn't want to accidentally flash her fangs. Then his face fell and Candi worried something was wrong, he seemed much less happy all of a sudden.
"You have no name little one?" She asked softly. Sure he wasn't little but Candi couldn't help herself from calling him that. When he stated she wanted things, she blinked her blue eyes at him and shook her head. Sure Candi could have wished for a lot of things but right now other than being dead she was pretty happy. What if a wish took away her granddaughter, that wasn't something she could face. "I don't want anything from you little one, come sit on the couch with me. Did you want a drink or a shirt to put on maybe?" Candi smiled again and then thought to herself that maybe he might want a shower.
--- This was... confusing. What was she talking about, she didn't want anything? Why would she bring him out unless she wanted something? It didn't make any sense to him. He stared at her, his brow furrowed in extreme confusion. "I don't understand," he confessed. "You're supposed to want things from me, that's... why don't you want me to do things?"
--- "I don't need you to do anything for me." Candi said as she looked at him. "I'm happy with my life, but would it make you feel better if I said there was one thing I wish I could change but I don't know if I'm ready to wish for that? Now come sit next to me, I'd like to talk to you for a bit. It must have been incredibly boring in that bottle." Candi said with a smile as she sat back on the couch.
--- He was torn. Part of him wondered why she wasn't making demands of him, why she wasn't wishing and asking for things and making him use his magic. But on the other hand, she wanted to talk. She wanted to just be around him, and she wasn't making him go back in. Breaking into a pleased grin, he bounded over to the couch, sitting down and laughing in surprise as he bounced. "This is neat!" he informed her. "It's bouncy!"
--- "The vampire laughed and then covered her mouth. "it is bouncy and there's a bed inside it." She said with a smile and then thought about how sad it was he had no name. "Do you want me to give you a name? You need one." It made Candi sad that he didn't have one and obviously he had been inside the bottle for a damn long time. Her mothering instinct was kicking in and she wanted to take care of him like he was a lost puppy.
--- "A bed? On the inside??" Staring at the cushion, he tried to think of the magic that would put a bed inside a couch. How did that even work?? And why?? This place was amazing. Everything was amazing. This woman, Candi, she was amazing too. She was being so nice, and he believed that she wasn't going to make him go back right now. She kept smiling. "Do I need a name?" he asked absently, lifing the corner of the cushion to try and see the bed inside. "Okay, maybe I could have one. What should it be?"
--- "Mhm, it folds into the couch. I can show you in a minute." She said calmly and then hugged a pillow to her chest. "Yes you need a name." Candi nodded when he asked and then pushed her hair away from her face. Candi scrunched her nose as she thought about a few names for him and then smiled. "Nathaniel, I think that's a great name for you." She said as she squeezed his hand and then let go.
--- The name was good. But she touched him. No one had ever touched him before. Recoiling his hand, the newly named Nathaniel stared at her, his eyes wide, and then he smiled widely. "Oh!" he squeaked, slowly reaching for Candi's arm, his fingertips running up until he reached her shoulder. Her skin felt smooth, and soft, she was warm, it was different than anything else he'd ever felt. Moving up onto his knees, both Nathaniel's hands touched Candi, running over every inch of her he could reach- her face, her hair, her neck, her chest, all of it.
--- Candi was surprised by Nathaniel's reaction but she let him touch her, he wasn't hurting her but if Remy was there he might have not liked him doing it but Candi understood new sensations like he was experiencing. "Nathaniel... What are you thinking little one?"
--- Since he had no concept of personal space, he got right up in Candi's, smelling her and grabbing various parts. "You're interesting," he told her. "Fascinating. This place is amazing. Where are we?"
--- Candi laughed softly and then gently took his hands away and held them in hers for a moment. She did not Agree that this place was interesting but she hadn't just popped out of a bottle. "We are at a school for supernatural beings."
--- A school? Nathaniel racked his brain, finally coming up for the definition of school. A place for learning. He loved the idea of learning. And he knew what supernatural was, too, and that excited him more. "Does that mean that you're supernatural?" he asked her, cocking his head slightly. She looked very normal.
--- Candi nodded at him when he asked if she was Supernatural. "I am, I'm a vampire." She said softly, a bit concerned about his reaction to that, if he knew what that was. "When was the last time you were out of your bottle little one? She asked, smiling at him. He was adorable like a puppy and Candi felt the need to take care of him.
--- "Vampire?" That was a word he knew, because he knew all words (just couldn't pull them up immediately), but still... she didn't look like how he had been programmed to think vampires looked. Leaning close to her, he stared at her mouth as she talked. There! Pointy teeth! Her question was ignored completely as his fingers went straight to her lips, pushing them up so he could see her fangs. "Wow!" he beamed, impressed. "They look sharp!"
--- Candi was talking but it was pretty obvious that Nathaniel wasn't listening. Of course then she was surprised when he started poking around in her mouth. Candi leaned back and nodded. "They are sharp, but not like needle sharp or anything." The blonde said as she pulled her legs up under her.
--- When Candi leaned back, Nathaniel leaned forward, reaching for her mouth again. "I've never seen teeth like that... they're so cool! I like them. Maybe I'll get some. Is it hard to talk? Chewing must be really fast. They're so white! Do a lot of people have them now? Oh! Is the whole world vampires now?!"
--- The questions were rapid fire and it felt like she was talking to her granddaughter. "No it's not hard to talk, or anything." She smiled, randomly thinking of a few things you needed to be more careful about with fangs than without. "No sweetheart the whole world isnt vampires, but there are a few of us. Not many of you though, you are special."
--- "I'm special?" That gave him pause. He knew that he was unique, but not special. The only thing special about him was his magic, which made him remember what he was for. Candi didn't want to use him like other people did... so what did she want? "When do I have to go back in?" he asked her quietly.
--- "Yes Nathaniel, you are special, a Djinn is a very rare being." Candi tucked he hair behind her ears and then smiled reassuringly at him. "You don't have to go back in the bottle sweetheart, I have no plans on putting you back in at anytime." She squeezed his hand and then bit her lip slightly.
--- This wasn't typical news. Usually, people were very excited to see him because he gave them things. And then after he did, and they got mad, they were even more eager to send him away. But Candi didn't want things, and she didn't want to send him away, so there was only one thing he could conclude.
"You're nice!" he beamed, then got off the couch to walk around and start exploring. Her apartment was cool, and it had animal pictures in it, and he started touching everything he could get his hands on, turning it over to see what it did, frowning when nothing happened and laughing when something did.
--- Candi wondered what the boy was thinking as he was looking at her and then laughed when he announced she was nice. "Well I'm glad you think so." She watched him as he explored the apartment, glad that he was enjoying himself. Candi got up and handed him the toy kaleidoscope her granddaughter enjoyed. "Look through that and turn it sweetheart." The vampire figured he would find that amusing.
--- Taking the toy, Nathaniel looked at it quizzically, turning it in his hands a little before peeking in the eyehole. "Ah!" he yelled, pulling it back to look it over again. "Oh! There's stuff at the end, and it's mirrors. Clever!" Looking through it again, he grinned, turning it to watch the colors move. "This is pretty. Everything out here is so much better than in there. I hate it in there. I don't ever want to go back in." Keeping the kaleidoscope tight in his hand, Nathaniel wandered his way through the apartment, peeking in doors. "Oh, I know what that's for!" he announced as he looked into the bathroom, and let out a sly giggle. "Hey a bed! Wow, it's huge!!" And of course, he ran in and jumped right on it, sprawling out.
--- Candi smiled at him and then nodded. "I'm sure you do, and I'm not putting you back in there Nathaniel don't worry." She said before following him through the apartment. She glanced at the bathroom and then laughed softly with him, he was an amusing creature. The vampire watched as he ran for the bed and sprawled out, knowing Remy probably wouldn't like that very much. "Is it comfortable?" She asked as she leaned in the doorway watching the djinn.
--- Purring, Nathaniel's eyes fell closed as he grabbed the edges of the blanket and wrapped them around his body. "Mmm hmm," he hummed. "Yes. It's perfect. I like it."
--- The sight of him rolling himself up like a burrito was highly amusing to her. "I'm glad you like it, you can sleep there for the night if you want." Candi had no intentions of putting him back in his bottle or out on the street. He would stay with her and Remy until they could figure out what Nathaniel wanted to do.
--- Sleeping wasn't even an option right now. "Oh, do I have to sleep?" he asked her, sitting up and keeping the blanket around his shoulders. "I'm so awake right now. I don't think I could ever sleep again. Your house is so great. You're being very nice, I don't know what to do! I'm not used to this."
--- "No sweetheart you don't have to sleep, I don't need to sleep much so I'm awake most of the time." She sat next to him and then smiled at him. "Thank you, wait until you see the school." The vampire bit her lip and then smiled at him, he did have boundless energy this boy, but she was okay with that, she missed taking care of someone. Candi reached up and brushed his hair away from his eyes. "Thank you, I hope I'm being nice." She said softly and then giggled quietly. "Well I don't know, are you hungry? Remy has some leftovers in the fridge."
--- No one had ever touched him like this, or been kind like this, or patient. No one had ever given him a name, or let him lay on their bed, any of this. She had such kind eyes, and a warm smile, even with her pointy teeth. "I don't think I'm hungry," he told her honestly. "I don't know. What does hungry feel like?"
--- Candi smiled at him and shrugged. "Kind of like your stomach is rumbling, or feels empty." She said softly and then squeezed his hand. "I think you should get cleaned up though, a shower, wash up."
--- A shower? Did he need one of those? He had never thought about it before. "Oh okay," he nodded, because Candi probably knew best. Getting to his feet, Nathaniel let the blanket fall to the floor, walking over to her and running his hands through his hair, mussing it up. "I would like a shower I think. Probably."
--- Candi just took his hand when he agreed and walked him to the bathroom. "It might make you feel better after being in that bottle. People tend to have one once a day." She said softly as she turned on the taps and got the water at a nice temperature. "Now get undressed and climb in, Remy has more guy smelling soap in there."
--- Watching her work the knobs closely, Nathaniel's head cocked slightly, studying. Interesting! "Huh," he said, wrinkling his nose. "It looks fun." unbuttoning his pants, Nathaniel let them drop to the floor and stepped out of them, ducking into the shower and blinking at the water hitting him in the face. "Who's Remy?" he asked, sniffing the shampoo bottle and tipping it sideways.
