Who: Maggie and Fox When: Friday evening Where: Charlie's apartment What: a short-ish chat
Maggie: Maggie drained two full blood bags while she waited for Fox to show up. She also warned Peyton that she had a guest coming over, and when Peyton found out who it was, she decided to hide out in Charlie's bedroom and watch TV. She didn't want to hang around the Ken doll. Maggie knew she wasn't supposed to have visitors, unless it was Ana or Ava, but she was lonely and Fox was her friend. Fox: Fox had grabbed a quick shower and actually thrown on clothes so he wasn't a grubby mess when meeting up with Maggie. He felt bad for not having seen her in awhile, especially not since her change. But Charlie was fucking scary when he was protective. Still, all he was doing was cheering up a friend. Ten minutes after he'd logged off AIM, Fox was knocking on the apartment door. Maggie: Maggie ran to the door, fussing with her hair as she did so. When she opened it, she wore a big smile. "You said five minutes. It took you TEN! Unacceptable," she teased. Fox: "I figured you didn't want me to reek, so I was nice and showered," Fox teased back. "Next time I'll come over a sweaty mess." Maggie: Maggie giggled and moved out of the way so he could come in. "No, I don't want you to come over all stinky." She shut the door behind him and shoved her hands into the back pockets of her jean shorts. "Um.. there's food in the fridge.. and drinks.. if you want something. Uncle Charlie got it for Peyton." Fox: "I'll grab a coke. You want something?" Fox knew that her diet had changed, and really he didn't care. He ran a hand through his still-damp hair, spiking it. Maggie: Maggie shook her head and dragged her feet a little as she walked over to the couch to sit, her legs folding under her as she did. "So.. are you staying here all summer?" Fox: "I don't know. Thinking about taking another roadtrip like last summer." Fox wasn't even sure if he'd come back in the fall. Maggie: "That sounds fun. I'm getting better at driving, but Uncle Charlie won't let me drive by myself yet. My car's a stick, and it's kinda tricky." She hadn't really mastered the clutch, so sometimes she killed the engine. Fox: "Yeah. Sticks are amazing, but hard to learn. You'll get it with practice. Just don't kill it." Chuckling, Fox went to the fridge and pulled out a soda, popping the top as he came back to the sofa. Maggie: "That's what he says too. Gonna be harder now.. since I can only practice at night." Which she hated. Driving in the dark was kinda scary when you were just learning. "I wanna learn to drive a motorcycle eventually.. like you and Uncle Charlie. I love riding with him." Fox: "I think motorcycles are easier, but that's me. Still need to know how to drive a car though." Fox shrugged, sipping his drink. Maggie: "Motorcycle are fun. I like the feeling of just.. not having anything around me. You know?" She wasn't sure how to explain it. "Sometimes a car feels like it's too restrictive. Like.. it's the difference between winter and summer clothes. I'd rather run around in shorts and a tank top.. or my swimsuit." Fox: Mmm, the thought of Maggie in a swimsuit...Fox shook his head, getting rid of that image. "Yeah, I know the feeling." Maggie: When he shook his head, she glanced at his neck and had to swallow hard. He had a really nice neck. Maggie jumped up from the couch and took a few steps back. Fox: Fox blinked when Maggie moved so suddenly. "Um...you need me to leave, Mags?" Maggie: Maggie's fangs bit into her bottom lip as she stood there thinking about his question. "I don't know. I'm sorry. I looked at your neck. I don't wanna bite you too." Fox: Fox nodded slowly. "I know. S'why I'm asking. Do you need me to leave?" Maggie: She looked down at her bare feet and fiddled with the frayed hem of her shorts. "I don't want you to leave. I just don't want to.. feel like this. I was gonna bite some poor man in the lobby at the hotel right after being turned. I don't even know who he is." Fox: "It's gonna take you awhile to adjust. There's nothing wrong with that." Fox leaned back in the chair and slouched, covering most of his neck. Maggie: "It's why Uncle Charlie doesn't want me to be around people who aren't vamps. I'm mostly safe with Peyton, because she's got cool powers. But.." she sighed heavily, "You have no idea how good she smells. It's like.. imagine all your favorite foods spread out on a table at Thanksgiving. That's how she smells." Fox: Fox shrugged helplessly. "Convince yourself that it's not that appetizing? I don't know." Maggie: "She told me she is. Lyle nearly killed her because she tasted so good he couldn't stop. But she's got all her crazy powers to keep me from getting that close." Fox: Fox mentally slapped his forehead. Peyton was a dumb ass. Shouldn't tell a vampire someone tastes good. That's like signing a death warrant. Maggie: Maggie fidgeted some more, trying not to look at Fox too much. "I know you'd taste bad though.. being an angel and all." Fox: "Not just bad. I'd hurt you. We'd hurt each other." Maggie: She nodded. "I know. It's not fair. You're my friend." Fox: "That's a good thing. We can stay as friends. Doesn't mean we've got to take advantage." Maggie: "No, I mean.. you shouldn't be able to hurt your friends. I don't like that. I'm not even sure I can touch you anymore." Fox: "Hugs and handshakes are fine. It's just a little jolt. Anything more hurts though. It's not impossible." Fox had been with vampires before, though never bitten. It hurt like a bitch, but he liked the pain. Maggie: "A jolt?" she asked, cautiously taking a step toward him. Fox: Fox held up his hand, getting out of his chair and putting it between them. "Tell me you've got control and I'll show you." Maggie: Maggie took a step back again and shrugged. "I don't know." She backed up more until she was pressed against the wall. "I'm not even hungry. I had two full bags. But it's not the same. It tasted so good when I bit Xander." Now she got why Ava and Charlie were reluctant to let her feed from an actual person. They tasted a million times better. Fox: Fox nodded. "Yeah. That's what I hear. I'm..gonna go. If you need me, I'll be on campus, okay?" He felt bad for tempting Maggie. He knew better than this. Maggie: Maggie nodded sadly. She understood. This was why Charlie didn't want anyone to visit her. She was dangerous. But it sucked. She was so lonely and scared and unsure of herself. Fox: Fox stepped closer, reaching out and brushing Maggie's cheeks with the backs of his fingers, giving her a taste of that little jolt. "I'm not leaving you, okay? Just want to help, and I'm not helping you keep control." Maggie: Maggie shivered from his touch. It kinda hurt. Like static electricity or licking a battery. She bit down on her bottom lip, piercing the skin this time. "It's not fair. None of it is," she whispered as she licked her own blood. Fox: "I know. But you'll figure it out. You're a smart kid, Mags. You've been shit on recently, but you'll be better for it." Maggie: "Better?" she asked, her eyes pained. Maggie shook her head. "No. This is it for me. Forever. I'm never gonna grow up." She looked down at herself. "I'm stuck like this." Fox: Fox wagged a finger in her face. "Dude, your body's frozen. Not your mind. You've got a fucking eternity to learn shit! There's no reason you can't do something spectacular when all you've got is time." Fox shook his head, disappointed. The cut up he was, he was liable to end up in jail or dead before forty. At least Maggie was better than that. Maggie: "But I can't. Everyone will always see me as a teenager. How am I going to get away with that?" She supposed one day she'd just tell people Charlie was her dad, because when they were the only ones left, it would be a less complicated story. But they'd have to move all the time. Probably have to change their names a lot too. "I wanted normal stuff. Or, mostly normal. Exciting normal." She liked being a shapeshifter. Fox: Fox shrugged. "I can't help you there. See one of the school's shrinks?" Maggie: Maggie slid down the wall to sit on the floor, pulling her knees up to her chest. She needed to shave. Shaving was such a pain. Why couldn't being turned into a vamp while she had freshly shaven legs have prevented it from ever growing back? Maggie: She looked up at him. "My boobs are never gonna get bigger. Is it bad that that's the first negative thought I had when all this started to sink in?" Fox: "Boobs can be done. Don't stress about those. And really...I shouldn't be the person to talk to you about this. I know jack all about it." Maggie: Maggie shrugged. "I can't talk to Uncle Charlie or Aunt Ava. They just look.. so.. sad. And they keep fighting about me." Fox: "I really...I don't know what to tell you, Maggie," Fox said sadly. This wasn't a situation he dealt with. His usual answer was to pack his bags and ride away. She couldn't do that. She had ties here. Maggie: She just nodded. "You should go." Fox: "I'm sorry, Mags." Rubbing the back of his neck, Fox turned towards the door. Maggie: "Me too," Maggie mumbled and rested her chin on her knees, hugging them tighter to her body.
