[Backdated] Friday, May 8th, 2009 Who: Ava, Ana and Adam What: Getting the right couple to talk Where: Staff apartments When: Friday 8th May 2009
It sounded like maybe Ana’s partner in complete and utter madness induced sex had come to his senses, and that was good news for Ava, even if it wasn’t for her twin in her current state. The only clue that seemed to have on how the delusion was broken was the fact he went to see his wife before it happened, and that he was telling Ana to go talk to Adam, so she was keen to get her to do just that. Ok, she didn’t feel so happy about having to give Ana false hope to convince her to do it, but it was necessary, and hopefully would be worth it.
Knocking on Ana’s door, she waited, taking a deep breath and for once too distracted to be marvelling at how human that was. Why couldn’t Ana and Nox just change races instead of this stupid falling in love?
---
It had been about two or so hours since Nox had left Ana’s side, but the ache to be near him grew stronger with every passing minute. Ana had felt a flutter of excitement when he texted her, but his messages confused and upset her. How could what they had be a mistake? Maybe it was Belle who had sent those text messages, hoping to get Ana to forget about Nox. She just couldn’t though. The desire she had for him was ever-consuming.
Upon hearing the knock at the door, Ana got up from the couch to answer it. Instead of greeting her twin as she normally would have, the first words out of her mouth were about Nox. “What if that wasn’t even Nox that texted me? What if it was Belle using his phone and she’s just trying to keep him from me?”
---
Well that wasn’t the greeting she was expecting, but she probably should have been expecting it to be something about Nox at least. Blinking she recovered fast. “I can’t claim to know the elemental well, but I’m fairly sure she would talk to you directly if she was trying to keep the two of you apart, not pretend to be him.” Now Ava however, she thought it would have been an option. “You will only find out if you talk to him, but first we need to go talk to your boyfriend, or ex boyfriend.”
---
“Really? Are you sure?” Ana asked, a bit skeptical. She kept musing on the fact that Belle could’ve possibly texted her instead of Nox, so she barely heard when Ava mentioned talking to Adam. “Huh?” It took her a second to realize what she’d said. “Oh. Adam. Right. Yeah, I guess I may as well break it to him now. Once I’m back with Nox, I don’t want to leave the bedroom,” she replied with a slight smirk.
Turning to walk out of her apartment, she closed the door after Ava followed her out. “I still feel like I should go see Nox first. What if Belle’s keeping him hostage or something?”
---
She really didn’t like this. This was not her sister, not really. It was creepy, but she laughed and pretended to agree with Ana when she said about not leaving the bedroom once she had Nox back. Oh please let this break before that could happen. She really didn’t want that piece of information in her mind.
“I know she might be an elemental but Nox is a demon, and have you seen how tiny she is? I very much doubt she could hold him hostage against his will.” Ava said. “He will be fine until after we have done what he told you to do.”
---
Ana thought on what Ava had said for a second, pursing her lips. “I suppose you have a point. He is really strong,” she finished with another smirk, thinking back to their marathon. She wanted to be with him again so badly. The ache was becoming almost unbearable.
“Alright, let’s get this over with then. I don’t want to waste anymore time.” Down the corridor they went and then ascended the stairs to Adam’s floor. Soon, they found themselves in front of his door, Ana’s hand raising up to knock lightly.
---
Every time she managed to convince Ana to continue in this plan instead of running off to Nox it was a relief. She NEEDED to find a way to get this fixed before her pushing stopped working though. “Do you want me to come in or wait out here?” She asked as they waited, but didn’t get time to answer before the door was being opened.
---
Adam had wondered where Ana had gone, and he’d tried to text her but he didn’t want to seem like the odd, needy boyfriend. That wasn’t his style and Ana didn’t like that, but he missed her. If he’d had any idea what she was up to, what had been going on behind his back, he may have regretted not contacting her more often, but girls needed their space.
When he opened the door to the twins he stood, surprised, thinking it was a pleasant one - until he realised the twins were rarely together unless there was something wrong, they needed a favour, or there was trouble afoot. He hoped it was none of them. “Hello ladies,” he smiled, slow Southern drawl. “What do I owe the pleasure?”
-----
During the past 48 hours, Ana had seen countless calls and texts come in from both Adam and Belle on her and Nox’s phones, but neither of them wanted to be bothered by it. They were too entranced by each other to care about the outside world. But apparently now something had to be done about the outside world. It still bothered Ana to think about Nox talking about a curse, but she supposedly she would find out what he meant later. Right now, she needed to talk to Adam.
Ana smiled slightly when the door was opened, though it wasn’t the usual smile she was used to giving Adam. It was forced and artificial, much like the type of smile she’d give a client in a business meeting. “Well, to be honest, Ava made me come here,” she replied as she walked in, dragging her twin behind her. “And Nox. I didn’t really want to, but they had a point when it came to letting you know.”
---
Ava gave him a smile that quite clearly said ‘welcome to the crazy’ and followed her twin into the room since she apparently wanted her to come in. “I wouldn’t call it a pleasure until you’ve heard it.” Part of her actually felt bad about subjecting him to what Ana was about to say, but she was really hoping that something about being with Adam would break the spell. “I’m going to let her talk though. I’ll just be over here.” And with that she walked over to the kitchen area and looked through his cupboards, eavesdropping on what they were talking about.
---
Triple A. That’s what he should call it when they were all together. He smiled at the thought then it faded in a combination of the twins’ comments, eyes narrowing in distrust and nervousness. He wouldn’t admit he was nervous but the twist in his gut was all too familiar; when an enemy had been outside the parameter, when someone was talking shit about him in school, when his Mom had left he’d had this feeling. Now... he didn’t like it. He’d believed he was safe from this here.
“Okay...” He closed the door and walked further into the room, laughing a little bit. “What.... letting me know what?”
----
Once they were in the middle of the living room, Ana turned around, her eyes moving from Ava to Adam. “I know you’re probably going to be upset,” she began calmly. “But try not to, alright?” The last thing Ana wanted was for things to start flying across the room because he couldn’t control what he was feeling.
“I’ve been with Nox for the past two days. And we realized we were meant for each other.” Her words and eyes seemed to be flat and without any feeling. Ana stood there, watching for a reaction with her hands clasped in front of her.
---
The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as Adam heard those words. ‘Probably going to be upset’ didn’t bode well at all and she wasn’t behaving at all like the Ana he knew and loved. Watching her, the way she moved and spoke, was lifeless. There was no fire in her belly and nothing at all which resembled his dear girlfriend. Certainly not when she confessed where she’d been and who with, and what she’d felt.
He was too stunned to understand it. “.... Nox? Meant for each - what are you talking about?”
----
Ana sighed slightly at his initial reaction. She had a feeling he wasn’t really going to understand it. “I don’t know how to explain it to you, Adam. We just found ourselves drawn to each other after class on Wednesday. He and I are supposed to be together.”
She stood quietly for a moment, wishing maybe Ava would interject since Adam didn’t seem to believe her, but Ana doubted that was going to happen. “I’ve never felt this drawn to anyone before in my life. It feels right. And obviously, you have the right to know.”
---
Adam stared at her with a frown, trying to digest the information. She loved Nox now? That couldn’t be right. Glancing at Ava for verification he didn’t know what to believe. Was this another prank? The twins had switched and were trying to make him believe the bullshit again it had to be.... he looked at them both for long hard moments before he laughed, once.
“You’re drawn to him. What -.... I don’t understand, what, have you fucked him? Are you two together now, what...?”
----
And now he was kind of laughing. “It’s not a joke, Adam. I couldn’t fight the pull that there was between us. So yes, I did fuck him. You don’t understand how strongly I feel about him. I get it, because Ava doesn’t really seem to understand either. Well, at least not at first.”
Ana paused for a bit, moving a bit closer to grab Adam’s hand and give it a concerned pat. “If I had known things were going to turn out this way, I wouldn’t have gotten involved with you. It doesn’t seem fair.”
---
Hurt didn’t seem to cut it. He was numb, angry, outraged, devastated, confused... he stared at her for several long moments and wrenched his hand away from her patronising grasp. This wasn’t happening. She wasn’t being so callous. This wasn’t Ana.
“Are you FUCKING joking me?” he spat, incensed and outraged. He pointed at both of them. “You come into my home and tell me this and YOU stand there like some fucking useless.... what are you DOING? How can you be so fucking.... are you insane?”
----
Even as Adam raised his voice and yelled at her and Ava, Ana didn’t flinch even a tiny bit, nor did she raise her voice at all. “I told you it’s not a joke. And don’t blame Ava for any of this. She didn’t know about this until recently either.”
Ana didn’t try to get any closer to Adam, still wary of objects that could suddenly fly around. “I’m not insane. Would you rather that this be kept from you? Because that doesn’t seem fair either. I can’t help that I love Nox.”
---
Ava cringed a little as Adam shouted, but she did at least have the decency to look at him. Sighing in frustration she pushed off the counter and walked over to Ana. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought her here. I just thought maybe actually having to tell you this might break whatever madness is going on, but no such luck.” Damn it! “Ana, maybe we should go. This all seems a little cruel, even for me.”
---
“Break whatever madness, huh? Yeah that’s a brilliant idea.” Adam certainly felt like breaking a few things, not least Nox’s face. He even began to pace, glaring at the two of them. “You’d better get the fucking lying bitch out of here, thanks for stopping by, Ana never contact me again I don’t wanna see your ice cold fucking unfeeling stupid whoreface ever again.” He was very aware of who he sounded like - the cancer-ridden old man back down in Texas. Speaking in rolling swear words of anger and hate, trying to keep his powers under control, he closed his eyes in temper. “Leave.”
---
Ana sighed once more as Ava mentioned this being madness. Why couldn’t they understand? And then Adam went off, spouting foul names and curses. She could almost feel the anger coming off him in waves and it felt as if it were hitting her brain. Ana began to move towards the door with Ava, but faltered, falling to the side as she clutched her head. The pain felt like it began behind her eyes, but it soon spread all over, feeling as if someone was taking a jackhammer to her brain. “What’s going...” was all she was able to get out before she slumped over completely and began to convulse.
---
That was one angry man. She wasn’t really sure she could blame him though. It was all very well for Ava to be able to look at Nox and Ana and see that something was very wrong, but Adam was just being bombarded, having his heart smashed by someone who looked like his girlfriend but was being so very mean. It was back to step one in working out what to do to fix things.
They hadn’t got far towards the door though when Ana seemed to be hit by... something, making Ava panic, but it was nothing compared to the panic when her twin started to convulse on the floor. “Ana!” She shouted, kneeling down next to her, trying to hold her still but having no luck. “Ana please! Oh god what’s happening?” The older twin cried, literally, looking to Adam in desperation.
---
Adam was vibrating so damn hard that the furniture was trembling. He planned on crashing everything from the left and right sides of his living room over to the opposite side, exploding his furniture in an explosion of anger the moment the girls had left. This bubbled under the surface, twisting at him and gnarling his insides. He’d not felt anything like it. He’d not even imagined that he had it in him, such rage. Even when his father had been such an ass to him he’d been so calm but the ultimate betrayal was the blonde leaving his home with not so much as a tear.
When she fainted he glanced. He wanted nothing to do with her. But the look in Ava’s eyes told him something was wrong and despite everything he walked over to her side. “Keep her on her left side, make sure her airways are clear,” he told Ava. First aid in the field never went away. “Wait for her to stop, we can’t do anything...”
--- Ana’s body kept convulsing uncontrollably even as they rolled her to her side. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and her mouth seemed to foam as the seizure continued on. A minute or so later, it seemed to subside, her body becoming still now though she didn’t seem to wake up.
---
The whole time they were human and she knew Ana was taking drugs Ava had been scared of this happening to her twin, but she had thought that since they had become vampires she was safe from having to witness it. What was happening?!? She felt completely useless as she had to just kneel there watching it happen, not able to help, but even when it stopped it was not that much of a relief. “Ana? Ana...” She whispered, leaning into her sister, shaking her a little. “Akee!” The use of the twin speak, telling her to wake up, just like when Ana was in the coma when they were a lot younger showed just how traumatising Ava found seeing her sister like that. It was not something a lot of people ever saw.
---
Adam placed a soft, reassuring hand on Ava’s shoulder, trying to soothe her nerves. True he’d never gone from insane rage to the calm and collected pilot in action but he knew the mechanisms of getting his moods under control and the gears he needed to practice. It was a wonder he could still do it. An explosion may have done him good.
“Ana?” he asked her softly, tone smooth but hiding the anger he’d expressed before. “Ana.... if she doesn’t wake in five minutes we take her to the infirmary.”
