Nox was a frequent donor in the responsible feeding class. He felt it was his civic duty to help young vampires find their way, and he really was an ideal donor. Strong of mind and body as well as understanding and free of discrimination. He cared for these students and knew how difficult it must be for them to make peace with this new reality and find a way to move forward.
But something was different in class today. He couldn’t put his finger on it. He felt strange, almost nervous. Several times, he’d caught himself looking at Ana, and each time he did, the nervous sensation grew. Or was he anxious? Scared? None of those words seemed to fit what he was feeling. It was an unidentifiable unrest in his chest that seemed to be triggered by her.
When class dismissed, he stayed behind, looking at her curiously. “Is everything alright? I feel.. off today, and it seems to be centered around you.” Nox was an intuitive man. He’d learned to follow his gut over the years, because it rarely steered him wrong. Maybe he was sensing something from Ana. Perhaps she was upset.
---
After all these months, Ana was starting to get the hang of being a professor. It probably helped that it was a subject that was second nature to her now, but it was still odd how easily she had taken to the role. So much of her life now was nothing she ever would’ve imagined for herself in the past. Being a professor, being happy in a serious, monogamous relationship. It was strange, but she was becoming used to it.
What she hadn’t become adjusted to was the way the virus had left her feeling even after she was cured. She felt rather off before, and the feeling only seemed to intensify throughout the class period. Feelings of anxiety began to creep in, intensified whenever she met Nox’s gaze. It was bad enough feeling like she wasn’t her normal self, but now this?
Once class was over, Ana attempted to shuffle all of her things together quickly, but she dropped a folder when she heard Nox speak up behind her. “Oh, um... I’m fine,” she lied as she hastened to pick up the folder and shove it into her bag. Leave it to Nox to realize that something was up. But this time, Ana wasn’t quite sure what it was.
---
Nox got to his feet, hand still holding a wad of gauze to his neck where a student had fed today. He didn’t restrict them to his arms, because he figured many of them would feed from the neck eventually, and it was good for them to learn how to focus while doing it.
“You’re not. I’m not either. Something isn’t.. right. I’m not sure what though.” He walked over to Ana and moved so he could see her face. “I didn’t lose too much blood, and you’re feeling off too. I can tell.” They’d been friends for awhile now. Nox could read her easily.
---
Zippering her bag, Ana frowned as Nox moved in front of her. She didn’t want to look up at him, but she couldn’t help it, her eyes momentarily moving up to meet his. “I’ve been feeling off since after the virus. You already knew that.” But it seemed like it was more than that. Damn him for noticing. Ana just couldn’t explain it though.
The scent of his blood, though dried and covered up by gauze felt like it had taken a hold of her and she felt herself almost began to salivate. Bloodlust? At this stage in her life? That was strange. Ana found herself eyeing the exposed side of his neck, licking her lips slightly before she willed herself to tear her eyes away and busy herself with her phone.
---
“That was weeks ago, and the cure took care of all physical side effects.” He was back to normal in terms of his health. Everyone was. Whatever Ana was feeling had to be more emotional. He knew she’d felt strange about Charlie being the one to save her and how kind he’d been about it. She still felt some regret there, which she’d expressed to Nox after some prying. Now that they were friends, he felt justified in digging at times. Ana wasn’t an easy one to crack, but she always seemed to feel better once she did. He knew she wanted to be able to confide in someone.
Her eyes, the way they darted to his neck, did not go unnoticed. Nox pulled the gauze away and examined it. “Did I get it all?” While he’d caught the glance, he didn’t catch the meaning behind it. He assumed perhaps he’d not gotten all the blood off.
---
“Yes, I know it took away the physical side effects, but that doesn’t mean I still can’t feel off.” Although now she was becoming irritated. And hungry suddenly. Which was odd since she had drank from Adam before she came to class. Everything was just making her more anxious, more on edge now and she didn’t like it.
Ana fiddled around with her phone, nodding at his question though she didn’t look up at all. “It’s all gone. Don’t worry.” Although she did want to bite him. It made no sense. She was in complete control of her bloodlust and yet, she pictured herself sinking her fangs into his neck. “Maybe you should just go home and have your wife tend to you or something.” Yes, she was definitely irritated right now.
---
“You didn’t even look,” he commented, leaning down slightly to try and catch her eyes since she seemed so determined to not look at him. “Ana?” he asked. And when she attempted to dismiss him, he reached out and grabbed her hand, covering the screen of her phone. “Look at me,” he told her softly.
Something was very off. With both of them. Once his hand was touching hers, he didn’t want to let go. And why was she refusing to talk with him? They’d become close and often talked after class. She was anxious about something.
---
Ana didn’t think Nox was going to give up easily. She knew him better than that. But she hadn’t expected him to reach out and grab her hand, covering her phone as he did. The action paired with his words caused her to look up though she was hesitant about it.
Aside from the bits of anxiousness and unexplained bloodlust, she felt... drawn to him for some reason. Yes, she had felt a bit off for the past few weeks, but she hadn’t felt anything like this. Her and Nox’s friendship had been fine, but now it felt as if things were different.
“What?” she finally said after she realized she’d been staring at him in silence.
---
Once Ana looked at him, Nox regretted asking her to. He was staring as well. His insides felt alive suddenly. “I don’t know,” he said in a whisper that was almost eerie. Why couldn’t he stop staring at her? His eyes refused to leave hers. It felt as though he’d never noticed the color before, or the little unique lines, the muscle fibres that made up her irises.
Not only could Nox not stop looking at her, but his hand seemed incapable of letting go of hers. It was involuntary. Seemed his thumb stroking over her skin was automatic too.
---
He wasn’t the only one with regrets. Ana couldn’t seem to tear her eyes away from him either and it scared her. She’d never noticed the depth in his icy blue irises. It felt like they went on forever.
The touch of his hand seemed to send sparks all through the nerve endings in her arm, but she never pried it away. It felt so nice and warm, and she could feel that same warmth radiating off his body. “What are you doing?” she replied, barely above a whisper herself.
---
“I don’t know,” he said again, his voice just as haunting before, a trace of fear detectable in it. Nox had no idea what was going on. He could hear his own heart, which wasn’t overly unusual, but its pace was. His breath had become shallow as well.
What was he doing? What was going on? Why did he feel this way? A million questions flooded Nox’s brain, but his body didn’t seem confused in the slightest. His free hand came up to ghost over Ana’s cheek, smoothing back her hair a second later. “This is weird, right?” He’d never felt attracted to Ana before. She was an attractive woman, but he’d not felt any sort of hunger for her. But it seemed he did now. He hadn’t been able to identify the anxious feeling in his gut moments earlier, but now he recognized it.
---
Ana caught on to the speeding up of his heart beat, even detected that it was stronger now. And then there went his lungs, working a bit harder as well. If Ana’s heart or lungs still had life in them, she was sure they would be doing the same.
Instead, all she had was this feeling of being drawn to him like a moth to a flame and she even found herself stepping closer. What was she doing now? Confusion invaded her mind as well even though she seemed in control. She shivered at the touch of his hand over her cheek and felt goosebumps sprout up as she felt it rest in her hair. “Yeah.” So weird, but Ana couldn’t really deny that she’d been attracted to Nox before. Hell, she had wanted to fuck him when she first arrived at the school, but she stopped thinking that way so long ago. Now it seemed like the ache was suddenly back.
“I don’t know what’s going on, but...” No, she couldn’t finish that thought.
---
This was wrong. And not just because he felt a twinge of guilt in suddenly realizing he desired Ana, but because there was something unnatural about it. These feelings didn’t exist earlier. For either of them. Nox was in love with Belle, just as Ana had made a life for herself with Adam. To suddenly have this desire.. he couldn’t even finish that line of thinking. He’d gotten distracted by her being close. Close enough that he could practically bathe in her scent. What was it? Strong citrus notes, but also something exotic and warm. He recognized something in particular. An evergreen. Juniper. His nose detected that note the strongest. It was intoxicating.
“This isn’t us,” he said, trying to focus and not get lost in the heavenly scent pulling him closer to her. “Magic,” he whispered. It had to be. But it felt incredible. Not forced. It was alluring. Powerful. And he found he didn’t really want to fight it.
---
The old Ana wouldn’t have said this was wrong. She would’ve lept into the desire with full force, not caring about the consequences. But the new Ana cared. She had a boyfriend that she loved, and Nox had a wife with a child on the way. She got along well with Nox now and respected him as a friend and as a professional, but she just couldn’t shake this lust that she was feeling. It didn’t make sense. She didn’t understand where it came from.
Even so, she couldn’t stop herself from getting closer to him and taking in his masculine scent. She knew it wasn’t them either, but she couldn’t really bring herself to stop and care. “Yeah. Magic,” she whispered back, her face mere inches from his now. Her free hand came to rest on his neck, taking note of his strong pulse. “Your heart’s beating so fast.”
---
And his heart would beat even faster in response to her close proximity. It was kinetic. Her movement toward him created energy within. It was dangerous. But Nox liked it. Or maybe he just thought he did. He couldn’t be sure. What he was doing was wrong. What they were both doing.
Finally managing to tear his eyes from hers, he looked down at her wrist. With her hand on his neck, it was all he could see. It was small and elegant. Her fingers were as well, though long, and well suited for playing piano as he knew she did. He could feel them stroke over tense muscles. His whole body was tense. “I didn’t do this,” he told her, as if needing to justify what was happening. He wasn’t responsible for whatever spell they’d been placed under.
---
Ana liked the way this felt. She knew it wasn’t real, but she still craved it. Or maybe it was just her body craving it. His heart beating faster only served to spur her actions on.
Her fingers lightly stroked over the muscles, focusing on a major artery, but taking in the sensation of his skin under her touch as well. So warm, so strong. She watched him as he watched her, knowing that he hadn’t been the cause of all this. “Neither did I.” She wouldn’t have wished something like this on them. And yet, she didn’t want to stop. “But it feels good.” Taking her hand away from his, she dropped her phone on her seat before resting that hand on his chest. “And I can’t stop.”
---
She needed to stop touching him and vice versa, but Nox didn’t want either of them to stop. It felt so good. Something inside of him was pushing for more. He could even feel a twitch along his back where his wings ached to come out. It happened sometimes, actually, lots of times, when he was making love to Belle. It took so much control to keep them concealed, so it made sense that when he started to lose control, they would appear.
“I don’t want you to,” he said softly as he looked down at her hand on his chest, his own hand covering it. “Feed on me,” he whispered as he looked to her eyes once more. He needed that closeness, but he was also scared of something more happening. Maybe if she drank from him they’d both be quenched. Satisfied. This ache needed to be soothed somehow.
---
The urge seemed to only get stronger as time passed and there was nothing either of them could really do about it. They were powerless, being egged on by some invisible force to push this further than what they would ever allow.
Ana half expected Nox to tell her to stop, so a hint of surprise registered on her features when he said he didn’t. Her fingers curled under his head, gripping onto his shirt as another dose of surprise entered her features. Her fangs almost ached now, thrilled to be given permission to sink into his flesh. She lowered her head to his neck slowly, letting her tongue reach out to lick his strong pulse point. His scent was driving her crazy, and she couldn’t hold back much longer, finally allowing her fangs to pierce his skin.
---
Nox shivered, goosebumps springing to life on the back of his neck from the feel of her gripping his undershirt. His neatly pressed and starched button up was always removed, along with his tie and jacket, whenever he volunteered as a donor for the responsible feeding class. He didn’t mind if these cheap undershirts got a little blood on them. Nor did he care if her nails stretched or even tore through the fabric.
Instead, it was her fangs that tore through his skin after teasing it with her tongue. Nox groaned and wrapped his arms around her tightly. While he didn’t mind being a donor, he’d never found true pleasure in being one. Until now. His eyes closed and his fingers clutched her firmly to his chest.
---
Ana was also grateful right now for the fact that his button up wasn’t on. She wanted to be closer to him, and could feel the heat radiating off his body so much better this way. It didn’t hurt that it gave her a better look at his physique, but she’d never allow herself to speak that aloud.
Once she had become a vampire, Ana realized how pleasurable it could be to be fed upon and feed as well. She’d nearly always equated feeding with pleasure, but a while after she arrived at the school, she realized it didn’t always have to be that way. She’d fed off of Nox before and it had always been purely for academic purposes, but this time was much different. This time she felt a thrill go through her that only intensified as he clutched her tightly to his chest. Pressing her hips into his, she held on tight to his neck, moaning softly as she continued to drink.
---
Nox’s right hand traveled up her side, caressing her shoulder briefly before moving along the side of her own neck and tangling back in her hair. He held her to the bleeding wound, letting her feed. She wasn’t greedy about it, but rather allowing his essence to slip into her gradually with each pump of his heart.
When her hips pressed into him, he groaned. His left hand instinctively grabbed her ass, firmly crossing the line. Because feeding was feeding, even if this wasn’t just feeding. Still, if someone had walked in on them a moment before, they might have been able to come up with a reasonable excuse. Not anymore. There was no reason beyond the obvious for his hand to be there. Nor should he feel himself growing aroused.
---
Ana was never greedy about her feeding, not unless she’d been going without for days, but she never let it get that way. Though his heart was beating fast, she sucked at the wound slowly, savoring the taste of his blood on her tongue and committing it to memory.
The line was certainly crossed once she felt his hand firmly grabbing her ass, but she no longer cared. She was lost in the taste of his blood, in his scent, in his arms. It seemed there was no going back from this now.
She pried her mouth away from his neck, licking the excess blood off her lips. With her hips pressed against his, she could certainly feel his arousal, making her want more. Her free hand moved up to cover the wound while also bringing his face down so she could capture his lips.
---
Nox wasn’t confused or making decisions against his will. He knew what he was doing. He knew he was cheating on his wife. He knew it, and he felt guilt, but at the same time he didn’t want to stop. It was a strange urge. More powerful than anything he’d experienced, except for when his personality had been reversed, but that was too powerful, making him essentially forget who he was. The decisions he’d made then could be attributed even blamed on the spell. This desire was caused by magic as well, but he was still the same person. No one had a gun to his head. It was just a hand, a soft, lovely hand pulling him down to lips that were stained with his blood.
The moment contact was made, he moaned loudly and moved to grab her with both hands, pulling her from the ground. Nox tasted copper on her tongue as soon as he reached out to it with his own.
