Who: Rez, Riley, Charlie and Trevor
When: Sunday Evening
Where: Riley's house
What: Revelations
"We have to tell them." They had been debating it the entire way back to Danvers, whether they were going to tell Riley and Rez what they had done or not. Charlie knew they would find out eventually and it would be better to just get it over with, and quickly, like ripping off a bandaid. Trevor, on the other hand, was terrified about it. But in the end, Charlie's logic won out. There were just some things that couldn't be kept secret and a quickie marriage in Atlantic City was one of them. "See, look, they're both here even. That'll make it easier," she assured him as they pulled up in front of the house in the new car they had won at the casino. "We just have to.. know what we did the right thing for us and just.. go for it. That's all." She gave a small shrug of her shoulders and then leaned over to press a kiss to his lips. "It's going to be okay."
~~~
Trevor was scared to tell them, he thought Riley would kill him and that his uncle would give him that look…that I’m so disappointed in you look. He hated that fucking look, mostly because Rez looked just like his mom when he did that and fuck it was annoying. “It was the right thing Red I know that it’s just…I don’t want them to be angry with us. I mean they are not going to be happy and I’m fighting so much with Adam I don’t want to be fighting with Rez too.” He kissed her back and smiled. “But we are in this together so let’s go.” He said with a smile and got out of the car, walking around to open Charlie’s door for her.
~~~
"You won't be," Charlie replied softly. "I mean.. once they realize that we're serious and this is what we really wanted to do, they'll be okay with it." She didn't think it would go over all that well at first, but after they talked it through with them, after they saw how in love the two of them were, she knew Riley wouldn't be able to be anything but happy for them and she had a feeling that Rez would be the same. "Always," she repeated when he said they were in it together, and she waited for him to talk around and open her door for her before lacing her fingers with his and practically skipping the way up the walk, the front steps, and in through the front door. "Honey, we're home!" Charlie called out once they were inside, kicking her shoes off before heading further in to try and find the two guys.
~~~
Trevor looked at her and nodded. “You’re probably right I mean…they just want us to have what makes us happy right?” He was calmed with the knowledge that Charlie loved him, enough to marry him and that she would always be on his side no matter what. After he opened the door and they were walking up the stairs he smiled at her. “Maybe we could have a reception at your house, just a small group of people since we don’t know that many. We deserve something to celebrate with our family.” He finished as they walked inside, his stomach clenching when she called out for Riley.
Riley looked up when he heard Charlie and glanced at Rez. “Funny I thought they would stay at your place until you came back.” He stood up and motioned for Rez to follow, Riley was glad that no matter what seemed to happen between him and Rez, they just weren’t awkward about it. Which after last night on the grass it really could be awkward right now.
~~~
"We should so do that!! I wanted to have a cookout anyway so it could be like.. our wedding cookout or whatever." Charlie smiled, totally stoked by the idea. Granted, they didn't know a lot of people but she still wanted to make new friends and what better way than to invite a few choice people to this.
Rez was too nervous about the phone call that still hadn't come yet to be nervous. It was supposed to have happened right around noon and now it was nearly night time and he hadn't heard a thing from anyone. He glanced at Riley when he spoke and then realized that he had heard Charlie's voice and figured out exactly what he was talking about. "Oh, right. Maybe they got.. sick of one another or something," he shrugged, then pushed himself up to his feet to follow the other man down to the foyer. Clearly that wasn't the case, a fact easy to tell upon seeing the pair of them looking so radiantly happy together, hand in hand.
~~~
Trevor smiled at the older men when they walked out, still nervous because now they were in front of them and it wasn’t a what if situation, they were about to know exactly how their families would take it. “Um hey, how are you guys?” Trevor didn’t think his uncle should be staying the night at his ex’s but he really wasn’t in a position to say a word about it.
Riley raised an eyebrow at how vibrantly happy they both were. It wasn’t that he didn’t want Charlie happy, of course he did but it was just suspicious was all. “So what has the both of you smiling like the Cheshire cat?” yeah it was random reference but Mara had been watching Alice in Wonderland over and over lately.
~~~
Charlie, unlike Trevor, was more excited to just get the news out there than he was. While he seemed incredibly nervous and trepidatious, she was practically vibrating with it and wanting nothing more than to just blurt it out. And so she did. "We went on a road trip to Atlantic City and won a bunch of money and a car and we got married!" They might have missed that last part in her excitment if she hadn't stuck her hand out so they could see the lovely rock she was wearing along with the matching wedding band.
Suspicious was definitely the right word for it. Charlie looked all excited and Trevorr looked all nervous which probably meant she had talked him into something that he was now regretting in some way, shape or form. Of course the answer came soon enough and his jaw dropped. He stared at her hand for a moment, unable to form words. Finally he said the only thing he could say. "What the fuck?"
~~~
Trevor had wanted Charlie to tell them, mostly because she would deliver the news way happier than he would just because of his nerves. He didn’t want his uncle to be angry with him he wanted Rez to be happy for him. But considering he did not like Charlie in the least…Rez being happy for them was probably off the table. However he did smile wide when Charlie announced it and showed off her ring.
Riley’s eyes went wide and he couldn’t form words for a moment, but that was all he needed. “What do you mean you got married Charlie?” He was stunned, he never thought Charlie would get married period, at least that’s what she always said and now here she was freaking married to his ex boyfriend’s nephew…oh life didn’t get much more soap opera than this.
~~~
"I mean that we.. went to a chapel and we... got married." Charlie pursed her lips in a bit of a frown as she glanced over at Trevor and then back at Riley, the smile reforming upon her lips. "We're married now. Trevor is my husband. And I'm his wife. That's... kind of how it works." She exhaled a soft laugh.
Rez wasn't looking too hot at this moment. He was too stunned to even formulate a response in the least and so he just shook his head. "Why?" He exhaled a laugh. "Why on earth would you do that?" He was talking to Trevor, gaze moving directly to meet his own. But he didn't wait for an answer before he shook his head again and said, "I think I need to be sitting down for this conversation."
~~~
Riley shook his head and leaned against the staircase and rubbed a hand over his face. “Okay yes I understand the basics of marriage…do you understand how serious an undertaking it is? And why Charlie? I mean you never wanted to be married before.”
Trevor just squeezed Charlie’s hand and smiled at her, it was okay they were doing fine. He blinked at Rez and then shrugged slightly. “I love her, I wanted to be with her forever. Why wouldn’t I do it?” Trevor asked him and then swallowed hard when Rez said he needed to sit down.
~~~
"I was never in love with anyone before," She replied rather matter of fact. She glanced over at Trevor and smiled when he squeezed her hand, and then she moved so that she could wrap that arm around her and sort of curl into his body. She kissed his jaw when he said what he did to Rez about his own reasoning and then glanced back at the other two men. "Yeah, we can all go sit down and talk about this. We probably should." She glanced toward the door to the entertainment room then asked, "In there okay?"
Rez was still having a hard time just wrapping his head around any of this. He felt... almost a little bit sick. Of course that could be the hangover talking still. "But you're only 18," he protested. "Forever is.... a long, long time, Trevor." He glanced at Charlie as she spoke and then looked toward the door. He didn't reply verbally but instead just walked into the room, finding a chair to sit in, a hand running fingers roughly back through his unruly hair.
~~~
Riley frowned, he did not like this at all and his brain was trying to think of the best way to undo this. He had to stop himself to make sure that he wasn’t thinking like that because he was jealous, he didn’t want to be jealous. “No I suppose you weren’t but this is…a shock to say the least.” He nodded when she mentioned sitting down and started for the other room.
“I know but that just means I found who I was supposed to be with early, I’m lucky.” Trevor smiled wide at his uncle and then headed for the other room. He was still worried what his uncle was going to say and do but Trevor was feeling better about it all. Nothing was going to change, not that much anyways.
~~~
It was kind of funny how the roles were reversing so quickly. Charlie had been all sorts of calm before and Trevor had been nervous. Now she was the more nervous one and he was the one who seemed to have settled into whatever came of this. But this was why she made a last minute decision to change things up as they started to migrated into the living room, giving Trevor a quick kiss and squeezing his hand before letting it go so that she could sit next to Riley, shifting to the side to face him and draping her legs across his lap.

It was kind of funny how the roles were reversing so quickly. Charlie had been all sorts of calm before and Trevor had been nervous. Now she was the more nervous one and he was the one who seemed to have settled into whatever came of this. But this was why she made a last minute decision to change things up as they started to migrate into the living room. She gave Trevor a quick kiss and squeezed his hand before moving to grab Riley's hand and steer him up the stairs instead, leaving Trevor and Rez to talk things out in the living room as she took Riley upstairs where they could be alone. They'd confronted the both of them together, but now it seemed like a good idea to split apart. They were still a united front, of course, but she thought the results of all of this could be better if they both dealt with the person they were most familiar with dealing with.
Rez glanced toward Riley and Charlie as she started to drag him off up the stairs and then focused his attention on Trevor instead, a sigh parting his lips. "Trevor... Are you... This is really what you want? To be eighteen and married to a woman who is.. older than you are and... has a kid and just... all these complications?" He wanted to know that he had thought this through. If he could prove to him that he had then... well fuck, what was he gonna say? Nothing much. He'd done dumber things in his lifetime.
~~~
Riley let Charlie take him upstairs, he knew they would have a better conversation alone than in a group. Plus Riley could ask more personal questions that maybe he didn’t want to ask in front of Rez. “Want to go in your room?” He asked softly, his mind still trying to work his way around it.
Trevor looked at him and chewed on his lip as he thought about what he was going to say. “Yea I…I love her, I want to get to know Mara, and I understand Charlie isn’t totally normal and I’m patient with her, we work through it. Things won’t always be perfect but this is what I want.”
~~~
That was precisely it. They couldn't have a totally open conversation with Rez in the room, maybe not even with Trevor in the room, but they needed to. And Trevor would be fine. Rez wasn't a bad guy at all and it was already pretty obvious that he would just suck it up and accept it as long as it was what Trevor wanted. And since it was, no biggie! "Sure," Charlie replied, leading the way. And once they were in the room, she shut the door behind them and then gave Riley a shove down onto the bed before crawling on it with him and moving to straddle his lap.
Charlie was right about Rez. He was a bit of a push over, honestly, but more than that, he was a sucker for love. So if Trevor really loved her and really wanted to be with her then... All he could do is wish them the best. He sighed as Trevor spoke and shook his head softly. "I think you're probably getting in over your head but... I mean... I dunno. I'm glad you're.. happy?"
~~~
Riley followed her into her room and then was only mildly surprised when she shoved him onto the bed and straddled him. “I take it you are having an open marriage then?” He asked with a slight smirk and then rested his hands on her hips. “Is this really what you want Charlie? I mean…I have some concerns…he’s just a kid and we have a daughter.” Riley was a pushover when it came to the people he cared about most of the time, and just like Rez, Riley was a sucker for love.
“I know you don’t like her, and I’m pretty sure you think I’m way too young mentally and in actual age but…she makes me truly happy dude. This is what I want, she is who I want.” He gave Rez a goofy grin and then hugged him hard. “Don’t worry so much, we really do love each other.”
~~~
"He knows who I am. And how I am. We've talked about that. He has no interest in changing me." Charlie gave a small shrug of her shoulders. Of course she hadn't really shoved Riley down and straddled him because she intended to screw him right now, but just because she wanted to be close to him. "He isn't just a kid, Riley. He's young, yes, but he's been through a lot. He grew up way too fast just like we both did. He can handle it. And we, us, you and I, don't have to change."
Rez shook his head as Trevor spoke. "I don't.. not like her." He had grown to like her a bit now that she was making an effort to be a better person. And he knew she had been through a lot still but... "And I don't think you're mentally young. I mean.. you've been through enough that I know you're not a typical eighteen year old just... I want the best for you. I dunno if this is it but..." He exhaled a sigh and shook his head. "Congrats, I guess. I mean... at least... I just want you happy, ya know?" He accepted the hug and then replied, "I hope so." It wasn't Trevor he worried about, but Charlie. She was flaky on a good day and he really didn't want his nephew's heart getting broke.
~~~
Riley had really just been teasing her, he didn't expect or want them to have sex at the moment. "I hope he does, I wouldn't want him getting hurt...and I know he's been through a lot. The fact that he can still stand on his own two feet and smile says a lot about him but you know I'm going to worry the both of you. Are you ready for this kind of thing. Marriage is a huge deal." He was quiet for a moment and then spoke. "But...for now if this is truly what you both want I will support you...unless I see it hurting you than we are going to need to reassess this." Riley hated sounding clinical about it but...he had to because he just couldn't understand it.
Trevor gave Rez a look when he said he, didn't not? Wasn't that a double negative? "She is the best for me, no one will ever understand it but us, I'm aware of that but...we are happy." He grinned at Rez and then glanced at his phone when it went off. "You can answer it, i won't be offended."
~~~
"He's a very strong man," Charlie replied matter of fact. And then he started getting all like.. parental and Charlie rolled her eyes at him, exhaling a breath as she rolled off of him and onto her side, laying on the bed next to him. "You don't get it," she said. "I know you don't and I guess that's okay because I don't even get it really either and I'm like.. in it but..." She paused, tryiing to think of how she could word this without hurting Riley's feelings. "I've never felt... just normal before. Or secure." She glanced over at him and added quickly, "And that's not because you're not amazing just because... I mean, you're gay. Eventually you're bound to find someone and they'll mean so much to you and things will be... different with us so.. I mean how could I really relax?" She pursed her lips in a bit of a frown and then added, "But Trevor makes me feel both of those things, since the first time we ever met, and... I love him. I need him. And I want to be his wife no matter what anyone else thinks about it."
Rez was going to say something about that, something about how you don't always really know what's the best thing for you, and then his phone rang. His heart jumped into his throat as he heard it, even moreso when he realized he didn't know the number. "Yeah, yeah I gotta take this." He was on his feet, completely distracted as he swiftly exited the room to answer the phone, heading outside to the back deck for some privacy.
~~~
Riley looked at her when she rolled off and sighed softly. "No I don't get it...I wish I did." He said softly. and then reached out and took her hand, smiling at her so that she knew she wasn't going to hurt him. "It's okay Charlie." Riley said quietly as he listened to her trying to explain to him. "I'm really glad that he accomplishes those things, that he makes you feel that way. And I don't think it's a bad thing I just worry, you know I love you and I only want what makes you happy."
Trevor watched his uncle pale at the phone and then run away. He shrugged and headed into the kitchen to raid Riley's fridge, he always had the best stuff.
~~~
"Then don't take this away from me," Charlie said rather bluntly. "I'm not dumb. I know that you can. I mean... you're technically my guardian and it won't even be a legitimate marriage if you don't sign off on it so..." She shifted onto her side so that she could face him, a slight pout forming upon her lips. "Please? I'm.. so in love with him and if you were to decide that you weren't going to.. to sign the papers for me, I don't know how I would.. get over that."
~~~
Riley looked at her and started to chew on his lip, part of why he wasn't freaking out really badly was the fact he had veto power. Riley could annul the marriage by not signing, technically he should have been present for it but he wasn't going to do that to Charlie. His decision surprised himself a little bit. "Charlie...I will sign the papers. I can see that this is what you want." Riley hadn't expected to agree, hell he thought he would have been yelling at her for being so stupid, but it was there in her eyes, in her face. Charlie loved that kid with everything she had and he couldn't say no.
~~~
"You will?" Charlie asked in a whisper, and then she smiled, eyes sparkling a bit with the threat of happy tears as she wrapped him up in a tight hug and kissed him hard upon the lips. "Thank you." She kissed him again. "You won't be sorry. Promise." They were good for one another. She knew it. And now she wanted to go running downstairs and smother him with kisses and tell him that it was all going to be alright, but she didn't wanna be rude. "Can I.. go downstairs and tell him now?" She bit her lower lip, a sheepish grin upon her lips.
~~~
Riley nodded and then laughed after she kissed him. ""I will, you're welcome." Riley sat up and then smiled at her, the girl was practically wiggling on the bed. "Yes you can go downstairs and tell him." Riley chuckled as she ran down the stairs. He followed behind, a lot slower but feeling lighter until he saw the look on Rez's face when he walked into the living room. "Hey are you okay?" He asked softly. "You got your phone call didn't you?" He asked quietly.
~~~
Trevor had made it back into the living room by the time Charlie and Riley descended the steps so Charlie ran over to pounce him, pressing kisses all along his neck and jaw. "Told you it would all be okay," she smirked. But then she frowned a bit as she asked, "Wait, did it go okay?" She didn't see Rez. But then she heard Riley mention a phone call and she glanced back to see the other man standing in the doorway, the look upon his face enough to make even Charlie concerned.
Rez was still just.. floored. He looked at Riley when he spoke and then over at the newlywed couple and then he just nodded his head. "I did, yeah." He didn't know what to say, what to tell them, or if he even wanted to just yet. "I uhm... I gotta go to Boston."
~~~
Trevor had a bowl of different goodies that he set down quickly when he saw Charlie flying towards him. He caught her and swung her around. Trevor held onto her tight and nodded. "Yeah it's all okay, he's stunned more than anything." He said and then glanced in his uncle's direction as well. "I wonder what's up...he looks shell shocked." Trevor said softly.
Riley bit his lip and squeezed his shoulder. "Hey...yeah of course you have to go...are you going to go by yourself?" He asked as he pulled Rez out of hearing range of the happy couple.
~~~
"More than before?" Charlie asked, looking at Trevor with a bit of a frown. "What phone call is Riley talking about?" Something was going on, something they had not been clued in on clearly. And Riley was now trying to drag the other man from the room which meant that he didn't want to clue them in on it.
"I..." Rez hadn't actually thought of any other possibility until Riley said that and then it hit him, Charlie and Trevor were here. They could probably keep an eye on Mara tonight and.... "Do you wanna come with me?" He could use the help, probably. And they could take Riley's car which already had a booster seat in it for Ethan to use and they could pick up a car seat for Chloe and it had more trunk space for bringing back their things and.. holy shit. This was really just... too much. It was too much.
~~~
Trevor smiled at her and then shrugged slightly. "I have no idea, Rez was really jumpy and then was off like a shot when answered it." he watched the two of them going out of the room. "If they want us to know they will tell us." trevor said as he flopped down on the couch and pulled Charlie into his lap.
Riley felt terrible, whatever it was that River had told him was hitting Rez awfully hard. When he asked him to come, Riley was surprised but found himself nodding. "Of course I will come with you." He smiled and tucked Rez's hair behind his ear.
~~~
Charlie giggled as Trevor pulled her into his lap, nuzzling against him and deciding to lavish him with affection. She felt so much better now that the bad part was over with. There were still things to be done, things that they needed to figure out and the like, such as living arrangements, eta. But for right now, she was happy, settled, and Trevor wasn't going anywhere tonight.
"We need to take your car. I've got the address. I... I didn't tell her I'd be bringing anyone with me but.. it should be okay." He scrubbed his face with his hand and then dropped it. "Yeah, we should go now. I wanna get there before it's too late."
~~~
Trevor hugged her tight to him and then turned on the television. He just needed some noise so that he didn't keep trying to hear what riley and Rez were saying. Rez would tell him soon enough he was sure.
Riley nodded as Rez spoke and then shrugged. "Yeah of course, just let me get the keys and my jacket...Oh and I need to let Charlie know she's taking care of Mara tonight." He walked into the foyer and grabbed what he needed. Riley then headed into the tv room. "Hey Charlie, I have to go out with Rez, we have to go to Boston so you're responsible for Mara tonight okay?"
~~~
"And clothes. We won't be coming back tonight," Rez informed him. "I'll go.. grab my bag." He left them to head upstairs to the bedroom, still feeling like this whole evening was part of some crazy dream that he would wake up from eventually.
Charlie had shifted herself so that she was beside Trevor on the sofa, leaning against him, his arm around her, the other one free so he could munch of the food he'd brought which she kept stealing bits and pieces of every now and then. Her focus had been on the tv but moved immediately to Riley when he came in the room. "Uhm... okay." She glanced at the clock and then added, "She's in bed already, right?" That would make it easier. She had never actually looked after her on her own before but since Trevor was here too she was sure it would be okay.
~~~
Riley nodded and figured he could go pack a bag after he told Charlie. Rez still hadn't told him what was going on but he was pretty sure he would in the car.
"Yep she's in bed, you will probably just have to check on her and get her breakfast and all that, Trevor can obviously stay here with you...then when I get back we will have to talk about living arrangements and shit. I mean you can't live here and he lives with Rez."
~~~
"We can handle that," Charlie assured him, glancing at Trevor for his agreement. As for the living arrangements, that was something that could wait. They'd talk about it later tonight, just her and Trevor, figure out what worked best for them, and then they could let Riley know what they had decided in the morning. "Is everything.. okay?" She asked, unable to keep her curiousity at bay. There were names, random names she had never heard before floating around inside her head but she wasn't entirely sure why. "You're going to a.. river?" She asked, not sure what that word inside her head actually meant but it was there so it had to be relevant.
~~~
Trevor agreed with her by nodding and then kissing her cheek. Riley looked at Charlie and smiled sadly. "One of Rez's old friends...she's named River, she's very sick and Rez would like to see her." Riley said softly and then started for the stairs. "I have to go pack a bag, just take the baby monitor into your room, with the house so big I like to have one in her room in case she needs one of us." With that Riley jogged out to the stairs and up to his room to grab a bag.
~~~
"Oh, okay." Of course Charlie had the feeling that that wasn't the whole story but.. they would figure it all out soon enough. Riley had just taken off up the stairs when a few minutes later Rez came down them. He stepped into the living room to look in on the both of them and asked, "You okay to stay here tonight?" He didn't see why Trevor wouldn't be but... he figured it would be rude to leave and not say anything at all.
~~~
Riley smiled at her before running upstairs. He threw a few things in his bag and then headed back down in time to hear Rez asking Trevor if he was going to be okay.
Trevor grinned at his uncle and nodded. "Yeah I'm good, are you?" He asked with a lot of concern in his voice. It was easy to see something was up with Rez but he had a feeling he couldn't ask...not yet.
~~~
Rez nodded his head at the question. "I'm... maintaining." He exhaled a soft laugh. He hesitated, thinking about telling him for a moment but then he decided not to, not yet. "You two just.. behave yourselves. And if you need anything, I've got my cell, Riley has his cell, and we're only like.. an hour away so... call us." He stood still for a moment before he crossed over and gave Trevor a hug before he heaed back out into the foyer to meet up with Riley. "You ready to go?"
~~~
Trevor frowned at him but didn't push him, the guy was obviously trying to keep himself together. "You do that and we promise to be good, no fucking in Riley's bed or anything." He said with a smirk. Trevor wouldn't do that anyways but it amused him to say it. Riley nodded at Rez when he came out to the foyer. "I'm ready, we can take the newer car, not my old muscle car. It will be a much more comfortable ride." All of Riley's cars, that he drove, which were basically two, had a booster in them so he didn't have to drag it back and forth.
~~~
That was enough to get a soft laugh out of him. "Damn," he replied with a smirk and then glanced at Charlie for a second before looking at Trevor again. Maybe he was right. Maybe she was best for him. He'd definitely seen a change in Trevor since he'd gotten close to her so... Maybe.
"Yeah, yeah, the new one," Rez agreed, adding on the way out of the door, "We're going to need the room on the way back." He hadn't told him why they were going yet because talking about it would make it a reality and... fuck, that'd be intense. But on the way, maybe, before they got there. Right now he just wanted to get in the car and get moving, so he kept his mouth shut and headed to the driveway to climb in, noting the new car in the drive along the way. "Fuck, they really did win a car." He exhaled a soft laugh.
~~~
Riley glanced at the car in the driveway and shook his head with a smirk. "yeah they did." He walked over to the car and unlocked it before sliding in, yeah he loved Rez and all but Riley loved his cars too so it was rare other people drove them. "How much room are we gonna need?" he asked as he threw his bag in the backseat, wondering if his suspicions about Rez having a child with her were true.
~~~
It was a nice car too. And good for Trevor. He deserved good things. He hoped that Adam would come around and be happy for him about all this too but he had his doubts. Adam was a hard kid to handle and.. God, Rez had no idea how he was going to deal with all of this. "I don't know," he replied softly, still not ready to talk about it just yet so he fell into siilence and remained that way until they were out of the driveway and well on their way to Boston.
