Those ten to fifteen seconds where Berta was giving Beth a death glare was the most tense, horrifying moment of the girl's life. Beth's eyes were frozen wide, the grin on her face quickly melting away as all the color ran from her face. Berta hated her. It was official. She had just lost her friend and she might as well go lock herself in her bedroom and never come out again.
And then Berta was laughing. Confused, Beth stared a moment, Berta's playful words not even registering at first. She was... not mad? And now Beth was getting ushered out of the cab by a bustling Berta. "Wh... but I... o-okay," she said feebly, stumbling out of the cab and flailing a little to regain her balance. These boots were new and she hadn't really gotten used to heels yet but they made her legs look very svelte. "You don't have to pay, I'd... oh wow." She finally caught sight of the place, and Berta wasn't exaggerating. This place was really big. She stood there in awe, looking up at it and blocking oncoming traffic. "Is that really all just costumes??"
