Who: Harlow and Jason
What: A warning
Where: Football field
When: Late afternoon
Harlow had been all over the stupid fucking school looking for Jason after she calmed down and after her vision showed her that the tall muscular blonde in it was not her brother Fox.
Everyone she came across either didn't know him or hadn't seen him in class all week. The girl was about ready to scream when she saw him running down the football field. "Okay so let's check the football field." Harlow said to herself as she ran out of the building.
The blonde ran to the football field and she scanned it looking for a guy that looked like the one in her vision. It didn't take long to find him off by himself. "Jason!" She yelled as she ran down the side of the field towards the man.
Jason had gone to the field to run laps. To do something to take his mind off of where it did nothing but stay the past couple weeks. Even after the workout from the full, he was at the point where he felt like he had nothing but energy. Sleep deprivation kicking in, giving him his second and third wind. Or was he on the fourth? He couldn't keep track. Didn't care to.
So here he was, running around the bottom end of the field in small laps to avoid other people and give him something to do. Hearing his name, he paused and glanced up. What was it with blonde and him and football recently?
Harlow ran up to Jason and then bent forward and put her hands on her knees. "Holy fuck...note to self, eat more than sugar at some point." She took a few deep breaths and then stood up straight. When she looked into Jason's eyes she saw it again, the vision that had woken her up from her nap. "No...stop it." She whimpered as she closed her eyes and then reached out towards Jason to steady herself. But once she touched him she saw other things, some that were just as horrible and some that were just highly inappropriate.
Harlow dropped her hand fast from his arm and then wiped it on her skirt. "Um...okay hi...you don't know me but my name is Harlow and uh I'm clairvoyant...I've been having visions about you all day and I need to warn you."
Jason watched the girl run over, noting the awkward way she clambored down the slight hill. She looked about like he felt. Hyped up on sugar and no sleep. He pulled back slightly from her touch, not trying to be rude, but just antsy.
"Clairvoyant? You need to find something better to watch, Miss Harlow."
Harlow was not an athlete by any means. Gymnastics; hell yeah she killed it but most other things, not so much. Him pulling away helped take away some of her thoughts and when she heard what he said she glared at him. "Hilarious...no I'm serious Jason, Wolf is planning some horrible things for you and you can't leave with him no matter what he says."
"No, I'm serious, Harlow." Apparently she felt comfortable enough to bypass traditional niceties and he was just past the full on no sleep. He wasn't feeling very polite. "You need to find something better to....wait. What?" Jason frowned looking at her. How did she know about Wolf? Cassie wouldn't have told. Did Candi? Charlie?
Harlow looked at him a little confused and then looked at him wide eyed, like she'd want to peek at his life, see these horrors on purpose. "Jason...I saw what he did, what he's going to do...he's insane." She could feel the tears starting again, the initial fear at first that it was Fox until she saw his face, but then the pain of the whole thing just became too much.
"Whoa, whoa!" Jason reached out, supporting her shoulders, trying to offer some comfort. It took a moment for it to hit. Clairvoyant. She could see what was going to happen. A glance confirmed that she was young enough she probably couldn't control it. "I know he is. Believe me, I know."
Harlow wiped at her eyes and looked at him. She had pretty good control of her powers but sometimes when the vision was strong enough or urgent enough nothing she did made it leave her alone, it kept coming over and over until she did something about it. "the dreams won't be enough for him much longer. He wants you in the flesh now. And he doesn't care who he has to hurt or kill in the process Jason. Anyone around you for the next...." Her eyes blanked as her voice trailed off, a soft noise escaping her. "the next four days...he's going to do something drastic..in person."
Jason blinked, then shook his head. No. Wolf was just dealing with dreams. That's what he was. A dreamwalker. Jason had been taking care to sleep under the dream catcher, so he was fine. Harlow was mistaken. "I'll be fine. I'm working with a couple others to get control of this situation."
He wasn't going to believe her...he thought she was wrong...Harlow had never been wrong yet with a vision. "NO you don't get it...he's going to hurt you, Charlie, your mother and Cassie....anyone who is near you when he shows he will hurt." Harlow felt a little desperate now, even in a school of supernatural beings one of them won't believe her.
"I believe you," Jason told her calmly. She was already starting to panic. They didn't need a crowd. "He's apparently been after me for awhile. But if what you're telling me is true, then you shouldn't be around me." Slowly, he stepped back. At least he had a warning before Wolf came. It was more than he got in his dreams.
Harlow looked at him for a moment and shook her head. "I don't mean anything to you, he could rip my throat out and leave me to die but it wouldn't give him any leverage with you so he doesn't care. But people that might give him leverage, they are the ones to worry about...of course he will hate me for warning you but whatever...I couldn't ignore it, it wouldn't go away."
Jason raised his hands to his sides. "And just what do you expect me to do with this?" It wasn't like he knew how to stop it, short of searching him out and staking him. But even then, he knew Wolf was coming soon. Why search him out?
She sighed out a breath and kind of slumped. "I...this is the part that sucks about visions...now it's gone misty so I can't see it clearly..it's altering." She chewed on her lips and then looked at him sadly. "and it sucks all i can do is tell you what will happen...not what to do."
Jason nodded. "I'm sorry. There's not much you can do at this point." He was caught between a rock and a hard place. "But thanks for telling me."
"You're welcome...at first I thought it was my brother...you guys look kinda simaler from the back you know." She said softly and then tugged one of her pigtails. "Okay so...now we are just strangers in an awkward conversation...I will go now." She said with a slight smile.
Jason frowned, not knowing her brother, then just let it go. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm usually not this surly, but given the circumstances..." He drifted off, not knowing just what else to say.
"No no don't apologize to me it's fine I understand. Someone is trying to make you their guard dog...or...lover I'm not sure what the fuck he's trying to do exactly and he's willing to torture and kill the people you love...you're not at your best I get it." Harlow looked around, chewing on her lip, trying to figure out the best way back to the dorms. "Umm...can you tell me how to get to the dorms from here? I...I have no freaking clue about this place."
The corner of Jason's mouth raised up in a humorless smirk. "Yeah, that's about right. I think he wants both." Glancing around, just to reorient himself, the dhampir nodded. "I can show you the way back if you like? I'm guessing you're pretty new here, huh?"
"I think so to." She said softly and then looked at Jason with relief and nodded. "Yes please! And yeah I just got here this week...my um...newly found father didn't want to deal with me so he shipped me off for my brother to take care of. And all that's done is freak the poor guy out." She said with a frown as she adjusted her messenger bag.
"Sheesh. Sounds like you've got a great life right now." Rubbing the back of his neck, Jason started towards the dorms, heading across the field and carefully avoiding anybody he knew. "So who's your brother?"
Harlow glanced around as they walked, and shrugged. "Could be worse I suppose, living on the streets and eating garbage." She smiled at him and then shoved her hands in her pockets. "Fox." Harlow answered him.
"True," the dhampir nodded in agreement. "Oh. Fox." His nose curled slightly as they walked over the grass. Since that was her brother, he was going to keep his mouth shut. An attempt at being polite.
Harlow glanced up at him and smiled when he said Fox's name. "Yeah I've seen that reaction before, it's okay you can not like him. Everyone is allowed their opinon. I've known him for a total of like five six days and I've only talked to him like twice." Harlow shrugged. "I like him."
Jason shrugged. "He likes to hit on my girlfriend a lot. They used to have something and I'm pretty sure he'd go for it again if Cassie so much as hinted at something." He didn't trust someone who could act that way around someone's partner.
Harlow shrugged and chewed her lip. "He's just a flirt in general I think, and he seems to like Cassie a lot. I'm sure he wouldn't do anything but my opinion doesn't mean a lot since i don't know him very well...other than my presence freaks him the fuck out."
"Why would you freak him out?" That didn't sound like a good brother. Stopping in front of the dorms, Jason held open the door for Harlow.
"Because he didn't know I existed until like Sunday and It's taking him awhile to get used to the idea I guess. I suppose showing up looking like I just went ten rounds with a boxer didn't help either." She said smiling at Jason in thanks for holding the door.
"Huh?" Okay, now she was just being deliberately confusing. Jason followed her inside and started up the stairs. She probably lived on the eighteen and under floor.
"when I got here I was beaten up...bruises all over me." She said, mentally telling herself to shut up because Fox wouldn't want people to know what their father did. Harlow was just lonely, people had their cliques and getting in was hard. So when someone talked to her she tended to talk to much, not always thinking how Fox would feel about what she revealed.
"Bruises?" Jason frowned, clearly not thrilled that she'd been abused like that. Wait. Didn't she say she'd come here from her father's? "Are you telling me...your dad did that to you?"
Harlow nearly tripped as she walked and then glanced at Jason. "Yeah...he did, he's...a freaking dick." She scowled and chewed on her lip.
Jason reached out to catch her, keeping her from falling. "Did you go to the cops?" Child abuse wasn't accepted in any state and if she had physical evidence, then she had a case for it.
Harlow's eyes went wide at his question and shook her head. "I...I never thought of it to be honest...I mean...who's going to listen to a dirt poor orphan....wow that sounded really pathetic." She sighed.
Jason blinked, stopping on the landing to look at her."Where did you possibly live that you couldn't trust the police to act on that?"
Harlow shrugged. "Farmville...in the middle of nowhere. I mean he seemed to know everyone in that town and I was just that skinny bitch he was forced to take care of because he didn't wear a rubber." Harlow didn't like to show people that she was sad or hurt, but her vision had taken a lot out of her and she had no one to talk to about it, so poor Jason was getting the babbling.
"I still think you should've told the cops. It would go a long way to putting him bars." Jason growled softly. He wasn't very happy that a young girl could be hit like that and no one said anything.
"Probably should have." She said and bit her lip. "But I had no where else to go...at least that I knew of. He only sent me to Fox because I used my powers on him and it freaked him the fuck out."
Jason sighed, trailing a hand along the wall. "Well, at least you're away from him now. And I don't think you intend to turn back, right?"
She shook her head so strongly that her pigtails flew back and forth. "Oh no I never want to see that man again in my fucking life time." She said.
"Good. I hope you don't have to." They'd stopped in the middle of the hallway and Jason gestured around. "Well. You're back in the dorms. I'll see you around, Harlow?"
Harlow looked around and smiled at him. "thank you so much!" She threw her arms around his neck and then stepped back. "OH sorry...I'm a hugger. I can find my room from here."
Jason chuckled, his first honest one in over a week. "You're welcome. I hope it gets better for you around here."
"Me too! But then again I refuse to be down all the time, my momma would kick me in the ass if I was." She smiled and then looked at the doors for a moment and then turned in the right direction.
