The best response Spencer felt he could give was a shrug. After all, if Trevor had never experienced such strong emotions, then there was nothing that Spencer could do or say to make him understand. Love wasn't explainable. Some people would argue that even family didn't deserve loyalty and priority once you were done with them. If he was lucky, Trevor would some day figure this stuff out on his own.
"Hm." Nodding, Spencer sat back a bit to write something down in his notepad, thoughts bouncing around in his head. Already he was analyzing Trevor, making decisions and evaluations. "Why do you suppose you felt badly about this? You said you were angry, and rightfully so, and it's only natural to want to retaliate your hurt, so why do you think it didn't feel like you'd hoped?"
