Charlie expected Maggie to arrive sometime today. Same with her parents. They all knew she'd get to Boston before the day was done. Problem was, none of them knew where Ava was staying these days, and Charlie was afraid to ask. It was a fear he might conquer though, given the circumstances.
But for now, Maggie was in the clear. Ava would take care of her and keep her from Charlie's wrath as long as she could. Maggie was grateful for that. She took hold of her aunt's hand as she had many times before, only now their hands were about the same size. It felt weird.
"I wanna see 'em," she affirmed. Maggie missed all her friends. She was actually kind of excited to hear that Kamea was older as well. Though, in Maggie's mind, that meant they were now the same age and could play together. She didn't think about the fact that Kamea's rapid aging had been cut off before reaching her teen years.
As for the shopping, that got an even more excited response. "Really? And we can play dress up?" In a lot of ways, Maggie was still a little girl. Things that made little girls happy made her happy. But she also had come to realize that boys were cute, and the made her feel nervous and excited.
