It was hard to argue with Nico because he was right, Lyle didn't know whatever dark secret it was that the guy had hidden inside him. But it was hard not to argue with him, because whatever it was he had to say, Lyle figured that it couldn't be much worse than anything else he had seen in his short year at this place. Before coming to TJS, life had been normal. His big problems were English essays and who to take out Friday night. Now... now there was murder and alien DNA and kidnapping and memory loss and magic and all other kinds of crazy shit. Nico could not possibly compete with all that.
"Hey, you don't know all the people I know," Lyle smiled softly, giving Nico's wrists an affectionate tug. "Trust me, baby... whatever 'it' is, it's not as bad as you think it is. It can't be. I mean... it just isn't. I promise." He wouldn't ask him to tell, not if Nico didn't want him to, but Lyle wanted him to feel safe enough to say whatever was on his mind.
