If humans were like children, wasn't that all the more reason to lose your patience with them? Children, specifically pups, were stupid. They needed to be disciplined and set in line. Nox taking a kinder look at them was just baffling. How did children learn their place if you coddled them?
Standing at the door, staring at Nox (and then glancing at the open doorway), June simply stood patiently. She didn't know what the motion was about, but perhaps he needed a moment before he went inside. She would wait. "Pups need training," she said thoughtfully, feeling as though perhaps he would be pleased if she gave a thought in the conversation. "If you give a pup too much leeway, they will not be obedient and they will get themselves killed. Humans need more training, as a species. They need a master." There, that was very clever. She actually felt a mite pleased with herself, and she smiled softly.
