Nox smiled at June when she finally looked at him. The uncertainty in her voice made him worry that she'd only said yes because she thought she had to. He didn't want her thinking she was required to join him. "Remember what I said about obedience, June. I'm asking you if you'd like to join me. If you'd rather not, that's perfectly fine. I won't be offended if you have other plans." Perhaps she did, or maybe she simply felt uncomfortable spending time with him. "I'm willing to take a rain check." Nox caught himself then, realizing she was probably unfamiliar with the term. "That's what humans say when they put off plans for another time."
