“You have... an unfortunate stigma attached to you,” Lloyd began softly. Unfortunate was an understatement. “You’re nice to someone and you’re trying to bed them. You show someone affection and you’re a letch. If you try and buy someone something to show them you are appreciating them, you are automatically buying them. I know it’s unfair. It’s very unfair for Charlie to judge you that way. And incredibly wrong for Charlie to threaten you!”
Lloyd couldn’t believe that at all and it was clear in his tone that he found it terrible. Even watching Garret eat all his best ice cream wasn’t deterring his mood. “He does not own Cassie, and even if he was her legal guardian he would still have no right whatsoever to threaten to kill you for buying her a gift simply for being a friend. That’s just – despicable. It’s not acceptable for the school. No matter what your history with Cassie, slept with her or not, he should be at least held accountable for that behaviour. Don’t feel bad.”
That was that, clearly, because Lloyd had that frown on his face that said it should settle the matter. “He’s a fucking prick. Vampires would smash a human, he’s an absolute dick!”
