Mal let Garret nuzzle him, not doing anything to stop it while he thought. "I'll let you know." Right now, the only constant in the back of his mind was that he was asked to marry two men. Two humans. To do so (especially when he'd avoided it for three millennia) was to turn his back on his heritage. Already he knew that Rorie and Garret wouldn't understand, so he needed to wait until they left before he could go over it. Turning his head, he noticed Rorie coming back into the kitchen and take a seat set back from them. Mal squeezed Garret's hand and then released him, leaning back in his own chair to watch.
If that was as good as he was going to get, then that was as good as he was going to get. And for the moment, that was okay. But just because it was the end of the conversation didn't mean it was the end of affection. Keeping himself close to Mal's side, Garret reached out an arm toward Rorie, waving him over and making a pouty face. "C'mere," he said needily, wanting Rorie in his lap, wanting to keep touching them both because he loved them both and Rorie had been right, the two of them needed to get used to one another. "Tell him about the houses because he already agreed to that and nobody's backing out now, I already talked to the real estate agent." If he couldn't restore the euphoric glow Rorie had earlier, maybe at the very least he could make him smile.
Looking at the other two for a moment, he felt the odd one out. It wasn't really unusual most of the time, but right then it just sucked a bit. Then Garret reached out to him and he couldn't help but smile softly. Getting up, he went over to his boyfriend and took a seat in his lap, nuzzling against him slightly like a loving kitten. The smile widening, Rorie couldn't help but feel the excitement he had earlier, nothing compared to the sheer joy he had, but it was still better than just a minute ago in the bathroom. "They're beautiful and large so Max's got a lot of room to run about and Pete's got a yard of his own. They're set back a bit so they're not so close to the other houses, but near enough that it's just a walk across the yard to each other," he said. "I was teasing Garret earlier about taking him furniture shopping once I get a list of everything I need."
Mal closed his eyes, rubbing a hand over his face. "Seriously? Do you both have to act feline? It's hard enough with Cherry's pet nearby." Would it kill the men to act more canid? Dropping his hand, he paid attention to Rorie, fully ignoring the happy mews coming from Garret. "Sounds good. I can check them out this week if you give me an address. As for the furniture shopping, you'll be looking to fully stock two houses. It's going to be a major list and an expensive trip." Not that he cared either way.
What fun was being around Mal if he wasn't a little irked? With a soft chuckle, Garret did of course mew at him a few times, just because he knew it'd be annoying. And while Mal was totally ignoring him, he knew that the message had gone through. "Money doesn't matter, so long as you don't get Wal-Mart shit, I don't really care what you get. I wanted to hire someone to do it but Rorie's determined to play homemaker, and I don't wanna go..." Pouting, he sighed, until the brilliant idea hit him. "You two should go together. They're your houses, and I don't really care what you put in them and you can't do it yourselves, so..." It seemed to make the most sense, plus it would give them time to bond or talk or whatever they wanted to do.
"Whiner," Rorie chuckled kissing Garret's cheek. "That'd be fun, but that means you gotta watch Max though," he pointed out. He couldn't help but grin at the idea. Garret babysitting while Mal and Rorie went out and did grown up shopping. "He likes playing hide and go seek if you're wondering what to do with him for the day. He's really good at it," he grinned. "I can start making a list tomorrow and we can go later this week when Garret has Max or is at day care. Be easiest so he's not eating everything and we're not buying everything in the store."
