As frustrated as Adam was by Ana, there was still room for compassion. He understood that she and her sister may have had a difficult life and that Ana in particular was scared of commitment of any kind, trusting people in general. He was prepared to give her a chance - except he was really, very annoyed.
"You told me that you couldn't have the conversation," he repeated, clearly in sync with believing that it was a pathetic excuse. True or not it didn't excuse cutting off the conversation and he knew she had heard him speak before she did so. "Who said it needed to be a conversation? It's three words. Either you return them or you don't. As far as my understanding of it is, anyway, and if you don't, then you - well I'd imagine you hang up on people."
