Simply put Ana had panicked when she tried to come up with a reason why Ava wouldn't respond to Charlie's advances. She felt that using herself as a scapegoat would be an easy enough solution, but she didn't think about Charlie wanting to know more about the fake fight.
Ana's brows furrowed as she looked down at her hand linked with Ava's. "I didn't deliberately do it, but I'm still to blame." Guilt was only a recent thing for her, but she hated it, especially when her twin was the one that was affected. At Ava's question, she looked back up at her and frowned as she saw her eyes start to well up. She couldn't stand to see her twin upset. "I don't know," Ana answered her gently and honestly. Once Ava leaned against her, Ana wrapped her arm around her and rested her head on top of hers. "I want it to be fine."
