Who: Peyton When: Saturday morning Where: starting at the BGH and headed to Peru What: she's searching for Blake
After Lyle left, clearly fed up with Peyton, it felt as though there was no reason left to stay. She couldn't blame him. Peyton knew she wasn't the same person he'd fallen in love with. It was hard to say exactly who she was anymore. She didn't feel like herself, and in some ways.. that was a good thing. Peyton wasn't sure she liked the person she used to be. She was different now, more in tune with her surroundings and her own spirit. If anyone could understand what she was feeling, it was Blake, but he wasn't here anymore. More than just wanting to talk to him, Peyton wanted his help. He was able to tap into powers that Peyton could not. Maybe if they combined their strengths, they could find a way to send her back where she belonged.
Peyton was convinced now that her dreams were not really dreams in the classical sense. Lyle was wrong. Peyton had been to that other world. Perhaps she didn't make a physical journey, but astral projection was a definite possibility. It made sense that if she could teleport herself across great distances that she could also travel by spirit. Now if only she could convince her body to travel along with her spirit, then maybe she could leave. Blake's experience with witchcraft was going to be the key to helping her. But first she had to find him.
She packed light, only the essentials stuffed into a backpack along with a LOT of money she'd swiped from Reese's account. She did send him an email telling him this time, which was a lot more than she would have done in the past. Peyton still wasn't happy about being brought out of her coma, but she appreciated the fact that her brother had tried to help for the first time in his life. She at least owed him a note of apology for stealing.
In addition to the few clothes, toiletries, and snacks in her bag, Peyton carried a long packing tube. Stuffed inside the cylinder was the telescope Blake had given her for her birthday. She'd removed it from the wooden tripod, since that was all much too bulky for travel, but the telescope itself had to come with her. Not only did she like it for the fact that it helped her peer into the heavens, but it provided a connection to Blake that she would need to help her find him. In her pocket she had two more items. The postcard he'd sent to Roger showing the Urubamba Valley ruins in Peru and a photo of Blake himself.
Before leaving, Peyton sent a quick email to Ric and Lyle. To a degree, she felt bad for leaving without saying goodbye in person, and her email was clinically cold in tone, but it would be easier on everyone if she just left. Ric wasn't really himself right now either, and Lyle was kind of a wreck. The email would suffice.
Clinging to all the items she was carrying, Peyton pulled out the postcard and memorized the photo, concentrating on it as hard as she possibly could. A second later, the young woman was in Peru, standing among the ruins she'd just committed to memory. Thankfully, it was still quite early in the morning, and no tourists were present to see a girl appear out of thin air. She wasn't sure where she was going, but this was a start at least. Now if only her sneakers were durable enough to get her where she'd need to go next.
