Cissy couldn't help but be envious as he spoke about his family and how tight-knit they were. She had always wanted that sort of family growing up, and she had had that for a while but... Frankie and Vinnie had really been the lucky ones. Slick was a wonderful father, and a good uncle too, but having a good uncle wasn't the same as having a great dad would have been. And as much as Cissy had loved her dad, he was never what one would call great. And once they'd moved to New York, she'd felt basically alienated from everyone.
The waiter arrived and the food smelled delicious and Cissy couldn't wait to dig in. But as she was using her fork and knife to cut the lasagna into manageable bites, she had to remark, "You're lucky to have had that growing up. I sort of had that with my uncle's family until we moved to New York but..." She gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "Kinda grew apart with the move." Not to mention the fact that she and Frankie had a lot of tension between them.
