It was most certainly having the desired effect, regardless of how cheesy the line was. If there was one thing that Tess had discovered, it was that it didn't really matter what you say as much as how you say it. And the delivery was the part that made it work. Or so she thought. And then she had been compared to the girl's father.
If there was a way to get Tess to stop what she was doing, it was to insult her. Or to make her think that she was perhaps being insulted. She wasn't really sure right now, but either way, it stopped her in her tracks and painted a confused look upon her lips. The explanation didn't make it much better either. "Well, uhm... I can't say I've ever been compared to someone's father before." She laughed somewhat tentatively, still unsure how to take that.
