Who: Charlie and Davia When: Tuesday overnight Where: their staff apartment on campus What: getting settled into the new digs Warning: SEX!
Travel had become so difficult since being turned into a vampire. You couldn't simply board the average commercial flight and take off for any destination. Damn the sunlight! All daytime flights were off limits, so it was dark out when Davia, Charlie, and his whole family departed from L.A., and it was very late when they finally arrived on the east coast.
Poor Maggie was passed out cold. She'd slept for the last hour of the flight in Charlie's arms, and he handed her off to her father once they all got off the plane. He would have continued to hold her, but instead, Charlie took care of the bulk of the luggage. He looked like a pack mule as the group of six (and one dog) finally left the airport and crammed into their taxis. One would take Charlie's family to their new home, the other would take Charlie, Davia, and the dog, Cassius, to their new home... a school with a name too long for Charlie to bother calling it anything other than TJS. He'd kissed his family goodbye and promised to have them over tomorrow to check out the new digs.
Charlie and Davia were mostly quiet as they rode to the school, dodging questions from the driver who wondered why they were going to the nut house. "I'll be handling security there... my friend is an therapist." He knew that while the school was visible to the surrounding public, its true purpose was unknown. The taxi driver kept stealing glances at the pair in the back seat, and Charlie was fairly sure the man caught a glimpse of sharp canine teeth... that didn't belong to the dog. "We're tired, so I'll pay ya extra if you just let us rest for a bit." The driver nodded somewhat nervously and locked his eyes on the road.
Charlie turned to Davia at one point during the trip and looked very somber. "You know what today is?" He'd been lost in thought the entire trip, thinking about just how significant it was to have Maggie in his arms during the flight. This had been the day years ago when he'd been prepared to reenlist in the Marine Corps, and Maggie was the only reason he didn't. There was a chance he'd be dead today without her. What if he'd gone off to war? What if he'd lost his life, limbs or sanity.. like many of his friends.
