Who: Vinnie, Zevira
When: 4:30
Where: Zevira's Room
What: Z has cannolis for Vinnie and lets him just relax
Trying as hard as she could not to get too excited about finally seeing Vinnie again--not that she hadn't seen him around, or spent time with him, but she hadn't spent time with him--Zevira tidied up her room as best she could. It had fabric hanging all over the back of her desk chair and falling off of the bed. There were even some rolls of a shiny fabric falling out of the closet. Everything was shoved into that one little closet. When it tried to give way, held closed only by magnets between the doors and the jamb, Z pushed a pink trunk in front of it--the trunk had her machine and other sewing materials inside. When her life had become consumed with this need to horde fabric...she wasn't sure. But her mother sent her fabric swatches all of the time; they hung on the walls. Sometimes Zevira would go online and buy a bolt (it was cheaper that way) and hope she'd need it.
Fortunately, she did. She didn't buy random fabrics. She bought practical ones.
That wasn't the point. The point was...she had no where to put it all. Under the bed, the closet, her storage spaces. All of it was full. But at least her room was decorated! She thought it looked kind of hip. Though often Zevira wondered if she really knew what "hip" was because she was the last person to know most anything. Ah, well. She knew she had good friends and she knew she had Vinnie and those were the people in her life that mattered.
Taking the box of cannolis and putting them on her desk, napkins tucked under the box they had come in, Zevira wondered if Vinnie would like them. They would definitely not be like his mother's or grandmother's, but she had asked around and Googled the best Italian treats place in Boston. This place was it! Mike's Pastry. She had gone over with her father the day before and was glad to have gone early. They waited in line for an hour before even getting inside the small shop! She had tasted treats and asked about all kinds of things (behind the mystery of a scarf, of course) before deciding on these cannolis. They were the best of all of them in her opinion.
With her room now neat and the treats out, Zevira opened her door for Vinnie to just walk in when he arrived. Meanwhile, she tied up her pink hair. It had gotten a lot longer since the last time they had really been together. With all that had happened and a few weeks really built up on people. Stress, daily habits, styles. She needed a trim but equally liked the length. Oh, choices to make....
