Jason liked seeing the blush stain her cheeks with that rosy color. Something about it always brought out her eyes and with the slightly embarrassed smile that usually went with it, it made for an appealing package. At least, that's what he'd always thought in high school. It bothered him slightly that, after four years, he still thought the same.
"Ah," he nodded his head knowingly. "I've given that speech once or twice. Normally to ladies I didn't want to overstep myself with." Part of him wondered why this Jack had told it to her.
And then came the question he wasn't sure he wanted to answer. Sighing, he stared down at his hands for a moment. "Squeakers, y'know I didn't exactly want to leave you in the first place. We just both agreed it'd be easier than trying long distance." That was as close to the truth as he could get without saying outright that he'd been willing to try the long distance, and drive back as often as he could. He'd loved her then.
