Who: Astrid, Fox (for a few minutes) & OPEN
Where: The campus grounds
When: Monday night, around sunset
What: Astrid finally has some time to herself to try out the family book of shadows
Of all the times for Astrid to actually take a second to translate the runes on the inside cover of her family's Book of Shadows, this probably should have been it. The book was weathered, a thick hardbound tome in brown binding, and it looked completely out of place tucked under her arm as she made her way out of her bedroom. She'd finished her homework, she knew the weather was going to be nice this evening. Nice enough, anyway. The light rain was going to be nice for what she wanted to do. There was nothing quite like spellcasting in a drizzle.
With a bag of small items in tow, Astrid made her way to a small area of the grounds that she'd found over the weekend. It wasn't really isolated, but it was tucked away behind the Infirmary in a way that made it difficult to be seen right there. She'd already talked to Doctor Seo and the woman had said as long as Astrid was back by curfew, that area could be her altar. The doc was cool, but quiet. But at least Astrid had a place she could call her own now.
By six PM, Astrid had laid a circle of salt on the grass, had pulled off her blouse and taken off the shorts underneath a flowing skirt she wore. By 6:15, she was deeply focused, the book of shadows open at her side as she knelt on the ground. She had a stone in her hand, stretched out towards the setting sun, and she closed her eyes. She'd translated this spell earlier that day, and had already committed the words to memory.
Muttering softly, Astrid focused all her energy into the stone, into seeing each atom. She could see the bonds, she could feel the connection between them. And she slowly, painstakingly, felt her mind begin to rip the bonds apart. And even though Astrid's eyes were closed, she could see the orange glow of the stone as she began to heat it.
