Monday, April 28th, 2008 Who: Vinnie and Raquel When: Monday night Where: Music classroom What: Vinnie's trying to cope but failing miserably.
Numb. That's how Vinnie had felt nearly all day yesterday after he had found out the horrible news about Simon. He had been in Starbuck's apartment, taking care of Kamea with Frankie when they found out what had happened through the journals. It didn't register at first with Vinnie, even after Frankie latched onto him and started to sob uncontrollably. How could that have happened? It just wasn't possible. Tears eventually came to him when the full reality of what had happened began to sink in. Simon was dead. His former roommate, his friend, Cissy's husband, Grace's dad.
He'd give anything for that numb feeling to return because now all he felt was pain. How could God have let something like this happen? Simon didn't deserve to die. It couldn't have possibly been his time to go, especially because he had just married Cissy and they had a baby on the way. And now little Grace wasn't ever going to know her dad. It just wasn't fucking fair.
Vinnie skipped all his classes on Monday for obvious reasons. He didn't bother explaining his absence at all to any of his professors because he just didn't care. Didn't even bother explaining it to Sydni either. None of it mattered. After getting out of bed around noon, he threw some clean clothes on before grabbing his secret stash of Captain Morgan and stuffing it into his backpack. His stomach growled for food, but he didn't even feel like eating which was extremely rare for him. He was a mess.
Slinging his backpack over his shoulder, he headed off to the music classroom, locking himself up in one of the practice rooms for the whole day. The sun had run its course across the sky and was now setting, but Vinnie had no idea. Time felt like it was standing still. He sat on the floor, his back against the couch as he took a swig of Captain before settling the bottle down next to him. An acoustic guitar lay across his lap and his fingers aimlessly played the same few chords that had haunted him since last night.
