Cassie was quite used to using diversion tactics but really she should have known that it wouldn't work with Charlie. She was sure there wasn't much that could distract him from trying to protect her once he got it in his head that it was needed. "I know, and I love you for it but it's a problem for another time." She hugged him with a smile still there, keeping things light.
There was a break after stopping before she put the parking brake on, as if once more she'd had to think where it was before she could do it. At least she did remember to put it on though. Climbing out of the car she locked it and walked around to Charlie, looking back to the car and grinning. "I still can't believe she's mine!" Cassie said, still sounding amazed. "Everything you've given me tonight PLUS totally mystery gift from Ava? I love birthdays!" Wrapping her arm around his waist she set off towards his apartment with him.
