Cassie had a point there. Charlie wasn't very good at sharing, and he recalled some early conversations with Davia when they'd first started their relationship. He wasn't prepared for commitment, but he also wasn't comfortable with her seeing anyone else. Things were even harder now, because he was committed to Ava, but he had a nagging fear that she would eventually have sex with another man. In a soft, slow voice, Charlie admitted, "Yeah.. I know how that feels." He wasn't okay with it at all.
Charlie liked to think he controlled his own destiny. That was part of the reason he usually insisted on driving. This was good for him. Allowing Cassie to chauffeur him around was a good test of his patience. He tried very hard to not let his slight anxiety show, and as Cassie got used to the car and got better at shifting, he calmed and began to enjoy himself. "You know I'd be beside myself if anything happened to you, sidekick." He loved her so much. "Take the next right.. it leads back to the school."
