"They really wanted to be here to give it to you themselves," he added, wishing her parents were able to make it. Sucked that they couldn't be here for Cassie's big day. "But if you want.. we could probably hook up a video chat tomorrow. You could thank them properly." He'd offered to find a way to hook up a video chat for the big reveal itself, but Suzanne passed.
Charlie shook his head at Cassie's request. "Nope. Not getting in. You're getting out. But start the car first and crank the volume on the stereo." Damn straight Charlie had installed a new sound system! It played CDs and hooked up directly to an iPod. He had already loaded a CD of his favorite Motown hits. Seemed fitting with the car. The first song on the CD started playing when the car came to life. Otis Redding's These Arms of Mine filled the air.
Reaching out, Charlie took Cassie's hand and helped her out of the car. He pulled her hand to his chest then, placed the other one around his neck, and then wrapped an arm around her back. Charlie began to sing along with the stereo. "These arms of mine... they are lonely... lonely and feeling blue. These arms of mine.. they are yearning... yearning from wanting you. And if you would let them hold you, oh how grateful I will be." He kept singing as he slow danced with Cassie, a smile in his eyes the whole time.
