"I've never bought a car. The one I have now... it was a gift... and before that," he shrugged, "I just borrowed my dad's Jeep a lot." They only had the one vehicle for years and years, well, if you didn't count the beat up Woody that needed a lot of work before it ran again. Starbuck hoped to take care of that once he returned to Hawaii. "What kind of car do you have?" She seemed somewhat interested in mechanics. He'd caught a look at the stuff in the box he carried.
Shrugging at her surprise, it was then Starbuck's turn to be stunned. Addie picked up a book, and he briefly caught a glimpse of the title on the spine. At least she had her own copy, because there was no way in hell he was gonna loan her his own. Starbuck was still upset that Kat had that copy of Catcher in the Rye. Yeah, it was a gift, and he knew his mother probably wanted Kat to keep it, but the tender inscriptions inside that book made Starbuck want it for himself. He didn't want to let go of anything his father had touched. "I like it, even though douchebags are constantly ragging on me for it. It wasn't always an uncommon name. It's actually Quaker." He'd done a lot of research on the matter when he was younger and sick of taking shit from people for having an unusual name.
He quirked an eyebrow when she talked about putting his muscles to use. "Um.. I guess. I can't help for long though. Told the babysitter I'd be back in an hour." He screwed the cap back onto the bottle and set it on her desk, gesturing for her to lead the way to the rest of her stuff so he could help her bring more boxes to the room.

"Yeah? That's cool." She was being genuine about that, too. If someone liked you enough to get you a big ticket item like that, then kudos to you. "1970 Charger. Danny's pride and joy," she joked. They'd worked on it together, actually. He'd managed to get it in decent shape when he'd bought it, but it had needed work. Addie was still in college and not making great money, so Danny'd agreed to a lower payment if she helped. That was where she actually got most of her education on cars. Not that she supposed she'd really be great at fixing one now. She just knew enough to keep it going and bring it to Danny when it was necessary.
"Really? That's pretty neat. Seriously. I have no idea where my name came from," she offered.
Guess it was a tag you're it kind of thing. Cuz now it was Addie's turn to be stunned. Freezing where she was, she gave another articulate, "Uhh..." before she asked the stupidest question ever, "You have a kid?" Way to go Captain Obvious.

"I don't know much about cars, but I have an idea what old Chargers look like.. and they're pretty sweet. Loud though." He didn't care much for the roar of a muscle car. Starbuck liked the look, but he attributed that to something inherent in all men. They were genetically programed to like powerful pieces of machinery. "There's a beat up Woody back home that I want to fix up one day. Never had the time or money before." Now he had the money, and once he left school, he'd have the time as well.
Chuckling at Addie's reaction, Starbuck reached into the cargo pocket of his jeans and pulled out his wallet. He opened it and fished out a picture of his beautiful little girl. "Kamea," he offered, handing the photo to Addie. "She turns two in June." He was smiling warmly now, unable to frown when talking about his daughter.

The impish grin that spread across her face showed that loudness was a desirable trait as far as Addie was concerned. "Yeah? That should be... fun." Ok, so a Woody was not in any way a desirable car to the cryokinetic. She couldn't even fake enthusiasm. Sorry.
