Friday, April 11th, 2008 Who: Keagan and Adora When: Friday night, just after Duncan left Where: Adora's place What: Keagan breaks to Adora that she's in denial, and the two of them kind of just... cope for the moment
Keagan frowned after Duncan left, "Well, fuck." he stood up to pull on his pants and finish getting dressed.
Adora had tried to summon the words to get Duncan to stop leaving, but... it had been impossible to even think of any. She'd felt like she'd been punched in the stomach. The feeling she had now was a gnawing one again, but this felt... so different. She'd never been one to do something truly hurtful on purpose and then feel guilty about it. Then again... until six months ago, she'd never bothered to care what other people thought or wanted. Just her own needs. She'd found herself sitting on her bed after he left, staring at the charred handprints on the molding to her doorframe. She didn't even move until she heard Keagan getting dressed, and she looked over at him quickly. "Where are you going?"
"I haven't decided yet." Keagan frowned and looked around the room for his shirt. it was on the other side of Adora, so he walked that way. "I shouldn't have stayed so long. You've eaten so you're ok now..."
Adora reached out and grabbed his arm when he passed her, holding tightly. "Please don't go. If you don't have to. I..." She frowned and looked down. "I feel like shit right now. And I don't... want to be alone."
"I don't think being with the asshole that just got you broken up with would help." Keagan frowned, but didn't pull his hand away from her
"Keagan..." Adora groaned and motioned for him to sit next to her. "We weren't - we're not dating."
"No, you were only hanging out with eachother all the time, going out to dinner, staying home to watch movies, and sleeping in each other's beds... not dating." Keagan frowned some, then sat on the bed iwth a sigh
Adora didn't quite know what to say to Keagan other than that... he was... right. Something about the look on Duncan's face, the way he bolted, the whole thing had her... feeling a little sick. She took a deep breath, letting go of Keagan's hand and reaching up to run a hand through her hair. "I didn't want to fuck up our friendship by... saying something."
"Well, I'd point out how that was probably a mistake but I think I'm the last person to give relationship advice." Keagan moved over and hugged Adora.
Adora turned into his arms and hugged him back, needing the comforting contact. "I tried to keep things the same, but something kept making my stomach turn. I kept wanting to say more and it started feeling comfortable and I knew that something had to be wrong and I just..." She held him tightly, breathing against his shoulder. "I pulled away."
Keagan pet her back and sighed. "Look, we'll explain to Duncan that I came over to talk and you were starving and it was only because you needed food."
Adora nodded some, pulling back a little and clearing her throat, taking a deep breath and trying to keep herself relaxed. She didn't want to start crying, even though that was exactly what the lump in her throat was saying to do. "I'll call him tomorrow or... no, I can't call this weekend, he's got rehearsal, and I don't want to make it worse. But, he needs to know that I pressured you into it, this wasn't your fault and it wasn't... I didn't mean to do it..."
"Talk to him on Sunday" Keagan hugged her tighter, "Because it's not like you consiously forced me to do it either."
Adora smiled a little and glanced over at him. "Yeah, but to be fair, you've probably never dealt with a succubus on the brink of starvation. We're pretty... um... convincing."
Keagan smiled a little, "I'd never delt with a succubus at all period."
"Well, then, see, it's not your fault, old man." Adora reached over and pat his knee a little. "You were just an easy mark." She took a deep breath, glancing back at the door. "Looks like we're both in the same boat now. Funny how omission totally fucks things up."
Keagan nodded and laid his head on her shoulder, "I don't really know what to do. You might be my only friend left here after this. I would probably hate someone who preteded to be my age but was much older. I feel like a pedophile almost."
"Dooon't feel like a pedophile." Adora sighed, using the opportunity to talk about Keagan so that the knot in her stomach would feel a little less painful. Although she knew there was no way she was going to sleep tonight. "You really liked her. And she is still an adult. Just really young. The reason I wanted you to ask about her parents, though, was because I knew they were older. I knew she wouldn't care about the age difference if you had just told her."
Keagan shook his head some, "I mean more just being someone very old masquarading as a kid. I dont know why I ever thought that was a good idea."
"It wasn't the smartest thing I would have thought of you," Adora sighed, and she stood so she could grab a pair of underwear and some actual pajamas. "But I don't think you expected me to push you into considering dating. That was the major issue."
"I dont regret having dated her... I regret not having told her." Keagan sighed and ran his hand through his hair
Adora pulled on shorts and a tank top before dropping the robe to the ground completely. She pulled her hair out from under the fabric and let the dark strands of hair gather around her shoulders as she turned to look at him. "You really liked her."
