Saturday, April 5th, 2008 Who: Astrid and Rae When: Saturday morning Where: The living room What: Astrid and Rae talk about spin the bottle the night before
Rae had done a great job of avoiding Astrid drunk, and now, early Saturday morning in her PJs, craving an early breakfast and solitude, she did an even better job sober. She saw Astrid puttering about the kitchen and practically speedwalked past it toward the living room, looking for her purse. She'd buy breakfast on the boardwalk. So what if she was in her PJs? Psh, whatever. Her ears burned hot as the previous nights events replayed. Why was she such a DORK and had to go and make a noise!? CASSIE was allowed to get into it, she was Cassie. Rae.. no, Rae is the girl who was supposed to keep her cool.
So much for that.
Of everything that had happened last night, the FURTHEST thing from Astrid's mind was the fact that Rae had enjoyed a kiss with her boyfriend. Wow, yeah, totally did not even blip on her "give-a-damn." She cared more about her hangover, which was why she was puttering around in the kitchen making instant coffee and some cereal. She thought she heard something behind her, and turned just in time to see the tail end of Rae as she passed the kitchen. Grabbing her cereal and coffee, then walked out to the living room while she watched Rae glancing around through the living room. "Hey, Rae." Astrid grinned, trying to get her attention.
Rae looked up, doe-like, and blinked, before forcing a smile.
"Uhh.. hey..."
Astrid's eyebrow quirked a little, then she grinned again and stepped closer. "You doing okay this morning? I dunno about you, but i have got one hell of a hangover."
"I'm a little hungover, yeah. You're up early." To kill me? She smirked and folded herself in an armchair away from the couch. "I'll probably nap later...if we get to it."
"Well, yeah, I should have slept in, considering last night, but, I woke up feeling wonky." Astrid moved to sit down on the couch, taking a bite of cereal and giving a happy little sigh. "And what a night it was, too."
"Yeeeah... I probably.. drank too much..." she said, watching Astrid from the other side of the room.
"Did you?" Astrid wasn't at all aware as to why Rae might be nervous, but she did seem a little out of it. "Well, considering the make-out session you had with Cassie, I can agree to that."
"Oh God..." she covered her face. "I'm already regretting playing that stupid game. There's a reason why people stop playing that game at like, eleven." She laughed into her palm, then looked up, eyes shining. "You don't... are you like, gonna punch me?"
Astrid blinked for a second, looking at Rae as if she had three heads. "What?! Why on earth would I punch you for playing spin the bottle with five other people?" Astrid couldn't help but laugh, but that made her head hurt worse so she had to stop. "I mean it. I had a blast. Didn't you?"
Rae made a noisy, throaty sound that paired with a laugh and really didn't answer Astrid's question. "I dunno. You were way cooler than I would be if my boyfriend was part of this stupid game. I think. I've never been in that situation, so."
"Well, I know that people have feelings and have fun and that isn't gonna bother me. I mean, I've had guys cheat on me, and..." Astrid shook her head, smirking. "Life's too short not to enjoy something like a stupid little game where you get to make out with hot people while you're drunk. It's toootally different if Keagan had just, y'know, slept with you to be deceitful and because he was bored."
ascentofrose: "I was totally drunk and my brain was all... blaaargh hormonal -- something I blame Cassie for, by the way, DAMN she is a good kisser, not Keagan, but he's, uh, good, too, but...." she laughed and got up, crossing the distance to perch on the sofa arm beside Astrid, but still at a distance.
"I'm totes sorry."
Astrid shook her head, waving her away. "Oh my god, please do not apologize! I consider it a pleasure to get to show off how good a kisser my boyfriend he is. And he is a good one, obviously." Astrid sighed some. "As long as you're not mad that i made out with your brother."
"That was.. a little weird. No more playing with siblings," she said, laughing. "It was more weird to watch Cassie and Jack go at it, and then Cassie kiss me.... something's...not right there...."
Grinning, Astrid shook her head and giggled. "I can't promise that i will never make out with Jack again. Cause, damn, the boy can kiss." Astrid held her hand up. "Not that you need to know and i swear I will shut up now. As for you and Cassie, holy hell, there was chemistry there."
Rae covered her face in her hands, then bent over to put her face in her lap.
"You're embarrassed?!" Astrid laughed, a little stunned. "You're sooo vanilla."
She stood up, opened her mouth, then shut it, then rolled her eyes. "Whatever, I may as well tell you. I'm sorta into girls. So it's like, weird. Because she's my roommate. But I never did THAT much stuff with them."
"I .. don't think she's into girls, though. I think she was just really fucking drunk," she added, snickering.
Clicking her tongue, Astrid leaned back and smirked. "Well, I have found that there are plenty of girls out there who are actually into girls who only say they're not because there are enough distractions to make them not face it. BUT, either way," Astrid chuckled. "It's all good. I'm not really into girls, but it's one of those things where I'm pretty sure if the perfect girl suddenly dropped into my life, I'd be smart enough to figure it out."
Rae laughed, at this, because she found it genuinely funny. "Yeeah....ugh. That was ... messy. But fun. But mostly messy."
"The whole night was messy. Seriously." Astrid smirked. "Even after spin the bottle..."
Rae arched a pierce eyebrow at her, smirking. "Bwuuuh?"
"Me and Keagan had a bit of a discussion about him getting jealous of me kissing other boys, and uh... it kind of progressed into me explaining that he had nothing to worry about because I'm not like that and, then... uh... I showed him how much I really wanted to date HIM. His V-card got punched."
Rae blinked, eyebrows raising, and then let out a squeak. "No way! Ahaha, was he all horny from watching you make out with Cassie?"
"Iiii think he was." Astrid smirked, blushing a little as well. "On top of that, he was upset because of everything and he's a typical guy in that when he gets emotionally riled up, it's easy to turn it into being turned on."
"True," Rae agreed, laughing. "I think Jack and Cassie have something going on. I'm not retarded. And he's done this with my friends. I'm too hungover to care, right now, but I might later if it means Cassie ends up hating me."
Astrid nodded some, not sure why the idea of Jack and Cassie having something going on actually gave her a little bit of... disappointment, maybe? Yeah, she guessed. Astrid didn't get possessive of her friends, but maybe it was the fact that it would have been nice to think that maybe Jack liked her. On some level. Half the time she didn't know if he was just putting up with her or not. "Well, I don't think anyone's gonna hate you. For.. y'know, whatever comes from this trip."
"Hope not," she said, and actually pouted. It was the most emotive she'd been sober with Astrid.
Taking a deep breath, Astrid ran a hand through her hair and gave Rae a very genuine and soft smile. "I'm certainly not. And Keagan isn't. You're a lot of fun to hang out with, Rae."
More blushing. God, Astrid was a regular fucking Dr. Phil. Since when did people just spill compliments and guts like this? She was opening herself up to hurt one day, if the wrong person took advantage of her mouth. If Rae had voiced this opinion, it probably would have sounded very familiar to Astrid, considering Jack had said something very similar.
"Thanks," she said, with a snort. "So, uh, really.. if Keagan has a brother...." she joked, pretending to be muttering and speaking from the corner of her mouth. She knew Keagan had no brother. Sadly.
"Ugh, if he did, I would totes pass him right along to you." Astrid giggled, taking a long sip of her coffee. "But, y'know, you can't tell me that Fox wasn't jealous that you and my boyfriend were making out."
Rae chuckled at the ridiculous of various parts of that statement, then gave Astrid a cockeyed glance. "He was not."
"Oooh, he was." Astrid smirked, and she sat back some, pointing her spoon at Rae. "Because he kept ramping it up every time he kissed me, and believe me, it was NOT for either of our benefit."
"What do you mean?" she asked, clueless. "Wasn't that the point of the game?"
"Oh, I didn't mean like, the fact that he was kissing me longer. IT was just, when Keagan kissed you, it was clearly to get Fox jealous, and Fox was totally putting on a show, I think. I mean, at least with me. He's a good kisser, but," Astrid chuckled, scoffing. "Please, he is so done chasing after me."
"I'm sure he'll be done with me soon enough," she said, easily, easing herself off the sofa arm to fall down on the cushion beside Astrid. "Which is probably a good thing, because it's getting hard to ignore him. Bleeech." She twisted her mouth to one side and looked at Astrid, narrow-eyed. "You really think Keagan was trying to make Fox jealous? And that Fox WAS jealous?"
"Oh, yes. I know he was trying to make Fox jealous because Keagan told me last night." Astrid sighed, shaking her head. "Keagan was jealous, he thought I was enjoying it with Fox way too much, when that couldn't be further from the truth."
Rae said nothing, her expression blank. You looked like you were enjoying it plenty. "So he's not pissed now?"
"No, he's not." Astrid chuckled. "I explained to him that I want him and that I'm dating HIM and that I wanted to be with him. He was afraid I was bored of him. Poor guy." Astrid sighed and shook her head. "Y'know, that's the first time I've ever played spin the bottle and had people think I was ACTUALLY going to cheat on them. I hate cheating. I never do it."
"Well....it is cheating," Rae said, with a bit of a smirk. "Just an awesome way of doing it, because it's all hunky dory, and .. allowed. But by definition it's sort of cheating. No?"
"I guess?" Astrid shrugged, not really agreeing with that at all. "Except to me, cheating is by definition being emotionally invested in someone else, even if it just means that you prefer to jump their bones over your boyfriend. And Keagan's at the top of my list. Doesn't mean I don't find other guys attractive, but I wouldn't actually sleep with them. And in the confines of a game, I dunno. That's supposed to be neutral ground."
She shrugged and nodded. "I guess. Again. You're way cooler than me," she said, and leaned back, scrunching her nose. Fucking Fox, with his fucking duplicitous ... Foxyness. "Whatever Keagan has NO REASON to be jealous of a guy like Fox. Guys like Keagan have great jobs and wives and happy lives. Fox needs his ass kicked or he's going to have a beer baby and a porn bill by thirty."
"I agree. On all counts." Astrid laughed, holding up her hand. "Except for the part where you think I'm cooler than you. What is THAT about? I'm totally not 'cool.'"
Rae grinned over at Astrid with a shrug. "You totally pulled Jack in for a french and he was too chicken to slip you tongue. You're hilarious. He told me he didn't want to, because of Keagan. He felt bad." She pushed her lip out in a pout. "He's such a softie."
Astrid sighed some, clearing her throat. "I probably shouldn't say what i WANT to say, then, because it wouldn't be fair to tell you what I think of your brother. But, hey, if nothing else, dammit, it was kiss number three. I was gonna make sure he paid up."
"He's a good guy," she said, grinning a little.
"He certainly seems like it. I like talking to him," Astrid smiled and found herself blushing a little. "And if things hadn't worked out with me and Keagan the way they did, I probably would be trying really hard to get him to go out on a date with me, even though I'm sure that would be a bad idea."
"Having never dated him, I can't tell ya," she said, not looking up from the TV.
"Well, no, that would be... weird." She chuckled, and she shook her head. "You know what? I'm sorry. I said I wouldn't open my mouth about him and I did, so I'm gonna just shut up."
Rae just chuckled, glancing to her before looking back to the TV. At times, she was very much like her sibling.
Astrid was content to eat her bowl of cereal in silence, but once her spoon plinked against an empty bowl, she found herself trying to figure out conversation. "So... I'm so not ready to go back to class."
"HAH," she said, turning back to her. "Me neither. Don't even remind me. I'm already falling into a depression and it's just Friday."
"Saturday," she corrected, then face-palmed. "Hangover."
Giggling, Astrid could totally sympathize at how she felt there. "Yeah, this hangover will probably stick with me aaaaall week. I'll be in class and just kind of stare off into nowhere."
"And think about kissing hot people..." she said, in a comedically 'dreamy' voice.
"Only your brooootheeer..." Astrid teased back, sticking her tongue out at Rae to be obnoxious before she dissolved into giggles.
"You're so bad, you won't dream about kissing your own boyfriend?" she said, laughing, "Or Fox? He's hot. I might even think about it. Unfortunately."
"Oh, I would totally think about doing more than just kissing Keagan," Astrid giggled with another sip of coffee. "And naaah, I don't think I'll be daydreaming about Fox. He's hot, he kisses well, but I just know there is nooo reason for me to fantasize about that guy." Astrid pointed to Rae. "I'll leave that to you."
Rae let out a horse-like grunt and rubbed at her temples. "I've already begun the un-training of my braaaaaain," she said, laughing. She turned big hazel eyes to the witch, with a bit of a warning -- but friendly! -- glare. "Do NOT say anything to him, okay? Like, at all? Whatsoever?"
"I will say nothing as long as you flat out admit right now that you DO like him and that you won't totally close the door on him" Astrid couldn't help but drive a hard bargain. Her mind was already starting to turn with ways she could hopefully hook the two of them up.
"KSSSHHTCHSH," she said, or .. sounded, slapping at Astrid's upper arm. "I will....admit... that I'm starting to .. see the appeal. Oddly. There's.. something about him. I know you think he's a huge ass but it's.. he's not, really....argggh." She shook her head. "He's bad news. I always do this. Crush on bad guys. But I just crush. I never date them. And he doesn't date, so .. lucky me."
Astrid rose her eyebrows at what Rae said, and she grinned. "Actually, Fox and I have really gotten along this trip. We had a chance to work on our differences and... don't... don't count him out just yet, okay? I don't think he's as steel-hearted as he thinks he is."
"Oh, he's totally NOT," Rae said, smirking, "I know that. But that doesn't mean he won't try like hell to keep up the act and well...." she sighed heavily. "Just.. fucccck that, man. I'm such a fucking mush, I can't handle that. I need a guy like Keagan." Her eyes popped. "And now I stop speaking."
Astrid chuckled some, and she shook her head. "It's okay. I could kind of tell that Keagan's more your type. That's cool. "
"Hey, you like science. Do some mad scientist shit and mesh their brains together, kay?" she said, smirking over at the witch. Astrid was pretty cool. It was decided.
"I will work on that." She grinned. "I will work on creating the perfect man. That'll be my next science project."
"It's aliiiiiiiive," she cried, old school badly based on the novel Frankenstein black and white picture style.
