Charlie made a face of disapproval. "No working allowed. You're supposed to be on vacation. You should leave campus for a while... go to Boston... visit the science museum or aquarium." Both seemed like the sorts of things Sydni would enjoy, even if she went alone. He would have volunteered to go with her, but he was daylight challenged.
After forming two patties, Charlie put a hand over the pan to see if it was hot. A second later, a sizzle erupted from the burner as the patties were placed over the heat to cook. He quickly washed his hands and began gathering toppings out of the fridge. Lettuce, tomato, pickles and ketchup. "You really do need to get out, Syd. You look..." he held his tongue to keep from saying 'terrible'. "Well, you've looked better. You're not allergic to the sun, so why don't you stand out in it from time to time? You could use the color. And, if you object to that... I can give you the number of the chick who does my spray tans." Yes, Charlie did the spray tanning thing, but it was less about vanity and more about looking 'human'.
