Thursday, March 27th
Who: Rae and Keagan Where: Hallway near student lounge When: Friday mid morning What: Keagan and Rae run into each other following Thursday's events.
Keagan got up and kissed Astrid on the forehead. He was hungry and poptarts didn't really sound appealing. Plus, he would need new clothes. It was 9 am, so Will should be out of the room. Keagan threw on what he had worn the night before and snuck out of the room. When he opened the door, he nearly stepped on a box. He picked it up an lifted the lid open to look inside. He frowned at the note from Fox and the sugary contents, then sat the package on Astrid's desk. Yet another thing to tell Fox off about: you don't leave presents of food outside the door of a girl who's dating someone else. Keagan might never have had a girlfriend himself, but he was fairly certain that it was uncouth and...poaching to leave gifts like that. Even if you had been an asshole.
Keagan sighed and headed out of the girls hallway back to the boys. He wasn't in a particularly good mood at all and was mentally prepairing his rebuttal to anyone who might try to tell him off. A little, ancient, vindictive side of him (which he mentally referred to as the Τιτάν remnant) wanted to open a little chasm in the earth underneath anyone who got in his face today and let them be swallowed into the abyss. Hmm... maybe he should seek anger management.
---
Rae was passing Keagan by on her way somewhere, books in her arm, purse slung over her shoulder, with just a light jacket on. She hated bothering with fluffy coats, despite the cold, if she needed to be in and out of place. "Hey, Kea--" she said, but then caught sight of his face as he moved closer.
Jeez Louise, who dropped a mouse in his cheerios? "Whoa, what a face," she said, with a smirk, arching an eyebrow up at him as she slowed to a stop.
---
Keagan stopped and when he saw Rae his expression softened considerably. "Hello. Sorry, didn't realize I was making one. Yesterday was a very long day and today isn't appearing to go any smoother."
---
Rae did some calculating, and then her expression softened. "Oh.. yeah.. sorry about that. I heard the story from Fox. That totally sucks.. I feel bad for Adora. Well, everyone."
She shuffled her foot sideways and adjusted her books. "Uhm, but, so, are you okay?" Awkward.
---
"Yes, I'm fine." Which was true. He was sad for Adora's loss, certainly, but he also knew that nothing could be done about that. "Well, about everything with Adora that is. Being fine about Fox is another matter entirely."
Keagan smiled in a wry way, trying to indicate that he wasn't going to be in a pissy mood towards Rae.
---
This piqued Rae's interest, and she thought about the previous night with Fox.
"Uh oh. Is this about his thing with Astrid?"
---
It was Keagan's turn to have an eyebrow go up. "How much did Fox tell you? Yes it is. He and Astrid had a large fight an I think I need to have a talk with him about how to properly treat women."
---
Rae considered this. She could try to explain, but then... Fox would miss a lecture he probably needed. Keagan was too freaking cute. How to properly treat women? She wanted to squish his cheeks together.
"He wasn't detailed. Just feels shitty about it," she said, figuring that was safe. She didn't want to dime Fox out completely. Just because Fox was too much of a coward to talk about his feelings didn't mean that she needed to air his dirty laundry.
---
"Well, regardless of if he felt shitty about yesterday it was no reason to snap at Astrid. Or to make her any more upset than she already was." Keagan frowned in an annoyed way. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to put a fist through Fox' face. Keagan was not normally prone to violence, and usually when he realized he was getting angry or frustrated at something, he'd think through it logically.
But logic seemed to leave his brain when Astrid was concerned.
"Sorry. You probably don't want to be in the middle of this."
---
No she did NOT. She licked her lips. Keagan was right. Fox had no reason to snap at Astrid, regardless of whether or not he knew how to deal with his own feelings.
"He had been right there with Astrid. I think they had different ways of processing what had happened." She shoved her books under her armpit so she could create an "X" with her hands, then veered them both off in criss-crossing directions, creating a larger "X" before her face. "You know, and they sorta.... clashed."
---
"Most likely. Astrid operates more like I do when she processes grief..." or like I did, Keagan thought, back when I still had to process things like this. "Fox processes like..." He drifted off. He wanted to say like a Neanderthal, or worse, like a Mycean, which Rae would have missed all together.
---
"Like someone who just discovered what it's like to need tact?" she suggested, with a smirk. She let out a grunt, grabbing her books again, then pretended to hammer the air. "Fox make fire, uhg, uhg, Fox has feelings now?" Then she scratched her head, like a monkey. Or a Caveman.
---
Keagan laughed lightly, "Precisely. Or someone who has feelings but represses them under so much machismo that he cannot react on them." He took on a tone that to Rae would probably sound out of 300, "You have hurt my feelings and scared me so I will DESTROY your villages and conquer your land so I don't have to think about you anymore!"
---
Rae laughed, hard. Keagan didn't know her that well, but getting her to react to a joke with more than a light giggle was something. Her hand went up to cover her mouth, as if to hide her laughter. When her laughter trailed off, she cocked her head up at him like a terrier. So, he was really going to go talk to Fox? Huh. She hadn't thought Keagan the type to..well, be ballsy like that. It was sweet. He must really like Astrid.
"Pretty much.. yeeeah.. I mean, I kinda get it, but whatever he is sort of a jerk." She hoped Keagan didn't start a fight. Fox's stitches might not hold out. Not that she really cared, but then that would ruin his spring break, and well, it was sorta her fault anyway....
She snapped back to attention, having only trailed off for mostly half a second. "I mean you know, he's not like you."
---
"Oh, I know that deep down he's a good guy," Keagan said, shrugging. "He does the right thing when it's a crisis moment. Yesterday proved that. I could tell he was upset by what he'd seen." Keagan was also vaguely aware that something had happened between Rae and Fox earlier in the week. "I just know that we are also all about to be stuck in a house for the next week and Astrid and Fox can't be in the middle of a fight."
---
"Yeah, no, I would really, really love to prevent that. Like, awkward city, for sure. I'll just hide in my fucking room," she said, with a soft chuckle. "Okay, I'll let you get.. on that. Good luck." She smiled cheekily at him.
