This had absolutely nothing to do with any sort of romantic feelings from the past. That wasn't the point. "What do you mean I don't get to choose you over Belle? I never said I was. I'm not about to up and forget my friends just because I happen to be in a relationship. Being your friend means being there for you. Belle understands that, and I have no doubt she'd support my decision to stay on campus for you." Adora and Nox didn't view relationships (friendly or romantic) in the same way. Nox felt a responsibility to be there for the people he loved, and Adora was one of those people.
Having Adora squeeze his hand again helped force his blood pressure to stabilize. He sighed and listened to Adora's reasoning. "I just want to help you," he said softly. That's all he wanted, and while he didn't think leaving Adora was the best thing he could do to help, if that's what she really wanted, he'd do it. "Will you call me if you change your mind and want me here? Because I will be furious if you don't call me because you're worried about ruining my vacation."
