It hadn't been difficult to fall asleep Sunday evening. Amazingly. Normally the ease in drifting into a state of REM required even mild intoxication. But the last week had been so emotionally and mentally exhausting on the girl that the hushed tick tock of the clock on the wall and the distant sounds of a television on somewhere, had been more than enough to help lull her to sleep. How naive of her to think for once, she could get away with a sober night's sleep. Less that six hours later, the faint sound of a gunshot echoed in her head and images of a strange half deer, half girl figure stumbled after a splash of blood across the movie screen of her eyelids set the stage like a pair of velvet curtains. Dizzy gasped for air, momentarily feeling and seeing what the subject of her dream, her vision had felt. The fear and panic might have sent her into cardiac arrest had she not sat up in bed as her eyes fluttered open. Wide eyed she searched the bed room to find herself in the comfort and safety of a dark and silent dorm. Brunette strands clung to her neck, cheeks and forehead where she'd perspired in the midst of her nightmare.
No, not a nightmare. A vision. The last time she'd seen someone specific had a bullet entire their body it had been very real, even if it hadn't occurred until the following week. Dizzy knew not to wait. Not to hesitate. Not this time. The face she'd seen in her dream had been the same of another students, though her name currently escaped Dizzy's tongue. Regardless, she had to tell someone. Anyone. Even if they found nothing, atleast this time the blood wouldn't be stained on her hands. Pushing the layers of sheet and blanket from her stems, bare feet met the floor and hurried for the door. She wouldn't bother to put on anything over the cotton shorts and over sized t-shirt she normally wore to sleep. The wood door flew open and the small breeze it created was a relief against the heat of her skin.
Silently, naked feet tugged at the cool floor as she ran down the hall. Her mind raced as quickly as her legs, mentally searching for who to tell, where to tell them to go, how to remedy the situation only she knew about right now. The only sound that may have announced her presence to anyone awake was the hushed heavy breaths, the steady pant as she ran, her chest tightening in need of air. Rounding a corner, her body slammed into something hard enough that it knocked her back. Dropping to the floor, she clammered to get back up and paused when she saw what, or rather, who she'd run into. Fox, was his name? She recognized his face and only a second or two later recalled exactly how she knew him. Fortunately the current circumstances alotted her no time to feel awkward about the fact that they'd seen each other naked before having spoken more than a handful of words to each other.
Hand rose up to push away clinging hair away from her face. Taking a moment to catch her breath, she didn't want to wait any longer to get the words out and resulted to delivering them in pieces in between inhales and exhales. "Girl." Breath. "Outside in the woods." Breath. "Shot". She swallowed hard in hopes of curing a drying mouth. Wincing as she tried to muster up a full sentence this time. "Can you help me?"
