Who: Duncan, Adora and Jang-Geum
Where: Adora's Place
When: Friday afternoon
What: Gossip, mayhem, all sorts of craziness ensues
Adora had slept in most of the morning Friday after having spent all of Thursday working on her marble statue. With the exception of a brief stop to Duncan's apartment to help the movers bring in his new mattress, which she nicely stuck sheets, pillowcases and blankets back onto. Of course, it wasn't just altruism on her part as a good friend. She might have slipped a book of those glossy, sexy coupons that she'd picked up from a lingerie shop in Reading under his pillow...
Other than that, though, Adora had been all about her new sculpture. She'd gotten completely lost working on it until she was exhausted, then she'd passed out in her room late that night and slept in. She even called Hope to let her know she wasn't feeling well and that she was just going to take the day off, but it wasn't that she was feeling badly, so much that she simply wanted to sleep and then relax...
She shouldn't have been surprised when the late afternoon rolled around and she found her phone beeping with a text. Oh, great. The "Great Jang-Geum" would be stopping by in a little while to check up on her.
----
Duncan was incredibly grateful for Adora hanging out in his apartment waiting for his mattress to be delivered. He had joked about them picking one of two days he had class; of course he was right. He had that sort of luck. When he had arrived home after class to find not only a new mattress but his sheets, pillows, bed skirt (yes, he had one), and comforter in place.
He found the coupon book after flopping onto the bed with a sigh, enjoying the feel of a new force against his back. He stretched up, felt it scrape his knuckles, and snatched it out in front of her.
"What the hell?"
She wanted him to be more initiative, right? Well, he was going to go over there. Not only that, but he wouldn't even CALL FIRST. He would just bam! Show up! Because that's what aggressive men did, yes? So he did just that, Friday afternoon, knocking hard on her door, and when she opened it, the coupon book was held up against his chest. His eyebrow arched in a 'seriously now?' expression.
----
Oh dear god, it couldn't possibly be that woman already, could it? Oh, seriously, life wasn't fair if she was already here to pester her. Hopping out of bed and leaving her sketchbooks on her more unoccupied side of it, she made her way out to the door and swung it open, still in her pajama pants and tank top.
Of course, the look on Duncan's face was so hilarious that she had to meet it with a completely serious look. "Huh. Look at that. Where did those come from?" She purred, stepping aside so he could come inside.
----
He play-growled at her, giving a dangerous 'gonna bite you!' glare before he stepped in and helped to close the door behind him.
"I don' t know if I should be insulted or flattered!"
---
Laughing a little, Adora couldn't help but bite her lip at that little growl of his. "Well, considering it got you into my apartment, I'm not complaining. You should be flattered."
Reaching out to grab hold of his shirt, she tugged him a little closer and smiled. "How was your day otherwise, handsome? What'd you do, wake up and think 'That Adora! I'm going to have to go find her and tell her how cross I am with her!'"
----
Oh, she was in a fine mood! This was going well part of his plan to be more ambitous and iniative with her for today required her to be I'm a good mood.
Grinning just a little wickedly, he put his hands around her waist. It wasn't often that they were touchy feely aside from when they were actually being intimate, but the mood had struck him. She was acting cute.
"I'm afraid I've already rendered some of these services out of you. Coupon-less."
----
"Oooh, really now, you have?" Adora arched a playful eyebrow then tried to peer down at the coupons, even though he was holding her around the waist. "I might have to go through there and double-check, make sure you're not going to get cheated or anything."
Her hands had started to run up and down his arms gently. She had no problem being affectionate with him. She was in a pretty good mood. She'd spent all yesterday being artsy, and for her, that was fun.
Unfortunately, they were not going to get to do what they had planned to, as Adora suddenly heard another knock at her door, and she groaned, resting her forehead on his shoulder. "Oh, no, it's her."
----
Duncan slipped the coupon book into the back pocket of his jeans, thick Scotsman eyebrow oushing toward his hairline.
"Her? Who, her?"
-----
"The doctor." Adora sighed, pulling away from Duncan and creeping over to her peephole. When she glanced into it, there was Jang-Geum's face staring intently at the peephole, as if already knowing Adora was there. "Goddammit. Okay, you know what? I'm gonna try and get rid of her. I am so not in the mood for her checking up on me."
Turning to look at Duncan, Adora clicked her tongue a little as she tried to consider where Duncan should go. Because if Jang-Geum knew he was here, he was probably going to get talked to or something and... ugh. That woman. "Y'know what? I have a couple of sketchbooks in my bedroom. You think you might want to check them out while I talk to her? I'm, uh, considering taking your advice. About putting them up for sale."
-----
Duncan was quiet for a moment before an amused but partially disbelieving grin crossed his face. His hands went to his hips.
"Adora Adora," he said, which she knew by now to be his way of jokeingly chastising her with a "full" name, "are you asking a 377 year old man to HIDE?"
----
Adora tried to hide the smirk on her face, and she reached out, slowly starting to push him towards her bedroom door. "Yes, yes, I am. Shut up. I really do not want to deal with her and if she realizes you're here, you're going to get bombarded with questions and you will never get to redeem any of those coupons, handsome. Soooo, bedroom. Go."
And just as Adora said that, there was another knock on the door.
---
"Oh ho ho, holding out. Very lady-like of you," he said, even as he was being ushered to the bedroom. "I don't believe this, ho--" the door was shut, and he was stuck staring at it. Ridiculous! How on earth could he be expected to just SIT in the bedroom like some awkward character on Three's Company....
Oooh, sketchbooks.
---
Okay. Duncan was now in her bedroom, she could focus on the next immediate problem. The doctor. Sighing, Adora made her way over to her front door and opened it with a grand flourish and the expression of a woman who would have rather been told she was going to get her hair chopped off unless she talked to Jang-Geum. "Can I help you, Doc?"
Jang-Geum's expression was genuinely concerned, as she had been worried that Adora was sick when she did not come to work, but the surly expression quelled those fears for the moment, only leaving everlasting patience. "Mama, I wanted to see how you were doing. I went to check on you and the headmistress said you were here for the day. That you had called out because you were ill."
Sighing, Adora watched as Jang-Geum glided into her room without a second thought, glancing around the room, her eyes resting on pieces of art she recognized. "As you can see, I'm totally fine. I wanted a mental health day. I'm fairly certain I don't need to call my physician over that."
---
Duncan took a seat on Adora's bed and dragged the sketchbooks onto bent knee. There were a lot of sketches of quite a few people, and they were all amazing. He enjoyed Adora's style -- breezy, but detailed, meaningful, but not superfluous. There were quite a few of him. He hadn't expected that.
There was one of him overlooking a city, on a balcony. It was obviously more artistic than it originally implied; she'd never seen him on a balcony. They'd never been on a balcony together. He had been on plenty..just not with her. The last time had been when? New York? Probably. Yes, New York.
---
"No, but you and I spoke on Wednesday on about how integral it is that you do not overtire your body." Jang-Geum rarely raised her voice, so it probably sounded like a muffled lull on the other side of Adora's bedroom door. "I was told by students who visited the Infirmary this morning that you were in the art room until late late night. Chipping at marble." The tone of her voice brooked no argument, and it was clear that she was concerned about Adora.
Adora, on the other hand, didn't appreciate the damned intervention. "I was being artistic, Jang-Geum, it's what I do!" Adora growled and walked closer to the Asian woman. "Look, you can't tell me what I can and can't do."
"Yes, I can." Jang-Geum raised her voice only a little, only to increase the intensity of her tone. It was very... very difficult to be calm with Adora. She tried the patience of any physician with her stubbornness. "You cannot afford to be reckless, mama! You should not be staying up at all hours of the night to exert yourself chipping marble and inhaling dust! And we have spoken of your appetite, you know very well that you could control it."
"Where the fuck do you get off telling me what to do with my body?" Adora snapped, Jang-Geum, once again, perfect at hitting a nerve. "Do not bring who I sleep with into it!"
"Except you and I both know that you do not need full sexual intercourse to feed. I had told you that you did not need to exert yourself in this way, and yet you still do!" Strangely enough, at the beginning of Adora's pregnancy, Jang-Geum did not mind if she slept with men to feed on them. It was now, approaching a critical point in Adora's pregnancy, that she needed to stay relaxed. And she had warned her then, and she would warn her now.
---
When a voice that was not Adora's grew loud enough to slide under the bedroom door, Duncan's interest in the sketchbooks waned a little. He glanced up toward her bedroom door. Duncan, no, you can't listen. That's not nice. Only certain words were getting through, like 'mama,' 'reckless,' and then, finally, 'appetite.'
Duncan gently laid the sketchbook aside and tiptoed closer to the door. He couldn't stay in here forever, anyway. What if the doctor stayed for a long time? What, he was supposed to just sit in this room? No, he was going to walk outside now and introduce himself. That was the mature, responsible, adult thing to do.
``Do not bring who I sleep with into it!``
Or he could wait just a moment. He blinked and cocked his head toward the door.
---
"Do not tell me how I'm supposed to feed, you asian water harpy!" Adora snarled, her temper flaring and bringing back her older habits, the clearly easier side to let out. "I will have sex if I fucking want to!"
"Why, mama?!" Jang-Geum pleaded, moving closer to Adora, who was near her bedroom door. Her voice rose only in desperation, not anger. "You are in your second trimester! You should not be feeding through sex, it will only grow more difficult! We both know that you can feed through kissing, why have you not done this? Your issues with Mister Elliott are no longer - "
"Blake has nothing to do it, Jang-Geum, and I told you that before!" Adora's voice had raised to a fever pitch, but she was clearly at the apex of her anger. "And I told you why I won't kiss someone! I spend my entire life sleeping with men who don't mean shit to me, and you know what? If I have one fucking thing I can save for a relationship, then it's going to be that! Don't tell me that out of necessity you want to take the one sincere thing from me! Now stop ordering me around!" Adora stopped then, panting, feeling her heart pound faster than she wanted, and she felt her head spin. "Ugh..."
"Mama!" Jang-Geum reached over to touch her arm and steady her, only for Adora to bat it away.
"Oh my god, would you stop calling me that! Seriously! I am so sick of this shit. I'm fine."
---
Duncan's mouth dropped a little. Well, that made sense. He had never asked Adora why they hadn't kissed. It was sort of understood that when you were screwing someone who was not really a romantic partner, you didn't ask too many question about why you didn't do romantic things. If Adora didn't want to kiss him, then maybe kissing wasn't part of her friend-fucking consitution. He had theorized that, and well, apparently he was right.
It was at this point that he realized he was completely and utterly eavesdropping. A sudden rush of admonishment swept over him, and he stepped backward away from the door shaking his head. Unfortunately he stepped directly into Adora's dresser, the corner of which made direct contact with where his kidneys would be, without all the tender flesh in the way.
All the air left him, and he let out a loud cry of pain. "MOTHERFUUAAARR.."
---
Both Jang-Geum and Adora stopped as they heard Duncan wail like a banshee from Adora's bedroom, and Jang-Geum simply rose her eyebrow at Adora, expecting some sort of an explanation.
Sighing, Adora looked up at Jang-Geum, then glanced at the door, then cleared her throat, calling out. "Hey, uh, Duncan, you done checking out those sketchbooks? I have someone I want you to meet." She knew there was no way Jang-Geum would leave without meeting him. With any luck, though, the doctor wouldn't ask anything terribly embarrassing.
---
The door opened abruptly and Duncan came out, rubbing at his back like mad. "Yes, actually, quite lovely, in fact, and oh, hello, nice to meet you, I'm Duncan," he said, smoothly, having looked from Adora to Jang-Geum in a breath.
He held out his free hand, the one that wasn't nursing his internal organs.
---
Jang-Geum walked closer to Duncan, taking his hand and feeling a hot sting in her hand. She pulled away quickly, flexing her fingers to relieve the sting. "I am Jang-Geum. Nice to meet you."
Adora, meanwhile, was staring at Duncan with an eyebrow raised, curious. She would have to ask about why he was rubbing his back like an old man all of a sudden, but first, she wanted Jang-Geum out. "Uh... yeah, she's the doctor, I mentioned her to you. But, uh, Jang-Geum can't stay long. She's uh, our main doctor on staff now." She looked pointedly to Jang-Geum. "Right, Doctor Seo?"
Clearing her throat, Jang-Geum's expression steeled slightly. She wished to help Adora, but that woman made that difficult. Very difficult. "Ahnyo..." Jang-Geum had replied in Korean, being formal without realizing, a frequent quirk of hers. "I do have... duties to attend to. I am still settling in. I was merely checking on Miss Adora." She did not ask what Duncan was doing there, as Adora's reaction to Jang-Geum mentioning who she could feed on seemed... to make more sense now.
----
Duncan, meanwhile, looked positively mortified that he had stung the woman's hand. Was she an angel, or a water creature? He hated that. He was only half fire demon and yet still he managed to cause discomfort with something so simple as a handshake. Self-loathing aside, he appeared absolutely stricken. "Gods, I'm sorry, did I just..?"
He looked to Adora helplessly. Well this made a shitty impression, didn't it. "I should've warned yeh, m'part fire damon." He licked his lips, as if that would take his accent back, then abruptly stood up and pointed back into the bedroom, giving Adora a sturdy glance.
"Those sketchbooks .... good... very good." Subject change, please, so he didn't have to think about burning the nice doctor!
---
Jang-Geum didn't make it a habit to take offense over someone burning her hand. She was used to it. After 500 years as a water mage, she realized that there were simply some things that she could not change overnight, and the fact that she was highly sensitive to fire didn't seem to phase her. Adora's attitude, on the other hand, would drive a saint to drink.
"Mama, I encourage you to focus on the sketch work. You have a great talent for it and it is less stressful on your body than your current project." Jang-Geum was attempting to be diplomatic for all their sakes. She did not wish to fire Adora up once more. "The marble will be there, but you do not need to finish it all at once."
Clicking her tongue, Adora cleared her throat and crossed her arms over her chest. "We'll see. I'll show you out, doc." Adora crossed to Jang-Geum and motioned for her to walk to the door. It wasn't a request, it was clearly a bit of an order.
"It was nice to meet you, Duncan." Jang-Geum said kindly. "Feel free to visit me in the Infirmary should you need anything." She bowed her head, then walked to the door, carefully leaving. It was a wonder Adora didn't hit her with the door on the way out.
----
Duncan watched Adora practically pick the tiny little Asian up by her britches and hall her out. When they were alone again in the apartment, he looked at his friend incredulously before sucking in a gasp.
"WHAT A BITCH. THE DEVIL! HOW DARE SHE! I can see why she's PURE EVIL INCARNATE."
Sarcasm. Jang-Geum had been nothing if not pleasant and compassionate to Duncan's eye.
---
Adora simply crossed her arms over her chest and glowered at him with pursed lips. "You know what? You can leave, too. You can gimme that coupon book back, too. Some friend you are, you don't have my back at all!"
Taking one step, then another, Adora went after Duncan with a couch pillow.
----
Duncan let out a laugh and began running away from her, around her sofa. "NO NO, MAMA," he cried, in exactly Jang-Geum's voice to the absolute tone and key (as that was one of his less impressive abilities), "YOU'LL TAX YOURSELF. THINK OF THE BABY."
---
Wow, talk about a perfect way to make Adora freeze in her tracks, and she bristled like a child who'd just been told off by a parent. That had probably meant to be funny, but it didn't feel funny.
"Do not... do that again, please." She said carefully, the edge in her voice kind of hard to contain. It was one of those times that all you could think was 'oh, that joke was way too soon.'
----
Duncan paused in his "running," (it had more been like "very quick toddling" as a full blown run through her apartment would have made him crash things off shelves, what with his long strides) and looked at her, arms up in a surrendering gesture. "Hey, look," he said, his voice completely normal now as his grin faded away, "I was just joking, darlin.' I didn't think I'd upset you."
He took a step back around, closer to her, still holding his hands up. "Sorry, I was just being an ass. Clearly."
---
Adora let out a deep breath, nodding some and waving a tired hand in dismissal. "I... I know you were joking, it's fine. I just..." She groaned some and took a few steps back until she was leaning against the wall behind her. "She... drives me nuts. She never lets me make the decisions I want to make, and she... she suggests crap that..." Adora was thinking about the stupid suggestion to kiss people, which she couldn't stand. "She has no business suggesting."
---
Duncan took careful steps closer to her, his brow furrowing. "I can see how that would be frustrating," he said, his voice quieter. When he was close enough, he reached up to tuck hair behind her ear.
"Was she right about what she said, though? About it being bad for the child if you have sex?" Concern etched itself into his features.
---
Adora cleared her throat, her eyes dropping to stare blankly at his chest as she tried to figure out what to tell him. No, she knew she was going to tell him the truth, it was.... just hard to say. "It's not bad. Not yet. She just... she's been acting very insistent about me not exerting myself ever since she got here." She reached up to run a hand through her hair, sighing some and glancing back up at him. "But, y'know, she was the one who told me that having one partner for the baby to feed off was a good idea. Something about a steady food source. Just... she, for some reason, keeps insisting I need to act like a damned china doll lately. And it's just been this week, too."
---
Duncan frowned, sliding his hands into his back pockets, giving her space without actually moving away from her. "So you think her advice is hooey?"
---
The last thing Adora wanted right now was to be having this conversation and for him to pull away, so it shouldn't have been a surprise that her hand moved towards him when he moved his hands to his pockets, her fingers clutching the material of his shirt. "I don't know... She's probably right, I should probably relax from now until the baby's born. But... I... I can't operate like that. Not anymore."
Adora had spent a great deal of time talking to Jang-Geum about her exploits as a succubus when they had been at Tiberius's home, but it had been to take her mind off of the school and her problems there, as well as her concerns about motherhood. Now it seemed to be biting her in the ass.
----
"What do you mean you can't operate 'like that?'" He asked, eyebrow arching. "What is 'like that,' not having sex? I mean, if you need to feed, but not have actual sex... " he could totaaaally come up with an arrangement.
---
"I don't like being caged and told to relax and just... let life go by. And I don't like not being in close contact with... someone..." Wow, Adora was realizing as she spoke that this was starting to sound really, really bad for her. Best to shut up then. Clearing her throat, Adora let go of his shirt and pressed her back against the wall more. "Um... forget it, I will survive. I'm sure."
---
He could recognize the signs of retreat easily. Hell, he had done them enough himself. "But Adora," he pressed, looking at her in earnest. "If this is about your health, just tell me what I can do and I will do it. I didn't know that... sex was bad," he said, sounding like a schoolboy suddenly. Even his cheeks flushed a little.
"I don't want you to be doing anything unhealthy."
---
"Oh, Judas Priest, Duncan," Adora sighed in exasperation, shaking her head and waving her hands in the universal 'stop motion'. "Please, of all the things you could be doing for me right now, making this sound like this is in any way, shape or form your fault or that somehow you're unhealthy for me is the last thing I would want you to ever do. Please don't do that. You are too good a friend for me to have feeling guilty. I just... no, please, don't."
---
"No no," he said, though the thought that he should be feeling guilty hadn't occurred to him until she said that. "I just meant that... you know, if for some reason you didn't want to tell me that you shouldn't be having sex at this stage in your pregnancy, then.. forget about that reason.
She said you can't have sex," he continued, smirking a little. "So if that's true, I'm alright with not having traditional play." Duncan absolutely loved giving oral sex, and well, Adora knew that was what he meant.
---
It took Adora a second, because her brain was still in angst land for a moment. When it did click, which it was hilarious how dense she was, considering this was her forte, she couldn't help but smiled and chuckle. "You're... I've totally corrupted you, haven't I?" Adora laughed a little, and she reached up, pulling him closer and giving him a big kiss on the cheek. "Mmmmwah!"
Smiling up at him, she sighed and hugged him. "You are an awesome friend, okay? I'm just making sure you know that now."
---
Duncan laughed. "Did you actually expect me to say 'RAWR, what do you mean no more sex! We agreed I was your open buffet of succubus delight! Screw your unborn child! Rawr!'"
---
"No, I did not expect that!" Adora slugged him in the arm - nicely - and slipped past him while she had the chance, snatching the coupon book out of his back pocket and plopping down too lounge on her couch. "I just... was afraid you would go 'ugh, jeez, now she doesn't want sex? What a fucking cocktease, clearly I shouldn't hang out with her.' Because, if you did, I could understand where you come from."
She casually began to flip through the coupon book. "It's a good thing there aren't any expiration dates on these coupons..."
----
Duncan plopped down beside her, ignoring both the coupon book and her change of subject attempt.
"You absolutely could NOT understand where I was coming from, should I say something so unbelievably idiotic and heinous, you little beautiful liar," he said, laughing. "Aside from the fact that I would never say that to any woman, Adora.. you're pregnant. I knew that when we started this. I knew that I only had a few weeks, if that, and that there would come a time." They had talked about this.
"I'm... still going to be your friend, you ninny. You're more important to me than the sex. I've made this clear."
There was a beat of silence. "So, now that Hope's a party girl, what's HER number?"
---
Adora laughed as he mentioned Hope's number, and she shook her head, turning and poking him in the side. "I am not giving you her number, you silly man! If you're gonna date around while I'm woobly, I'm going to at least be smart enough not to make it my boss!"
Adora reached up to run her fingers through his hair, scratching gently like he was a dog or something. "You're a very good friend, you know that? I couldn't have asked for better."
---
His devilish grin became softer, more genuine, and a little sheepish. His eyes crinkled at the corners, and he met her gaze with a little shrug. "Thank you."
She hadn't called him on eavesdropping. That was good. The thought occurred to him when he remembered the conversation about kissing. Then another thought occurred. A thought asking why the previous one had occurred.
He was lost for a moment before realizing the time. "I was in that room for almost forty minutes."
---
"Hm?" Adora glanced up at the time, then nodded some. "Yeah, you were... huh. Jang-Geum does a good job of totally derailing any sense of time or thought when she starts dressing me down." She kept giving him a head massage, then slowly started to make him lean towards her. She was feeling affectionate, and she wanted to show that. If nothing else, it was cathartic after that fight.
"On a side note, what'd you think about the sketchbooks? Anything worth selling in there?"
----
"I think there's a definite market for your style now, especially for wall art. You could do portraits of famous people, or just about anything. You could sketch someone's dog like that, with your talent, someone will buy it." He nestled back against her, his shoulders pressing her chest, wrapping her arms around his front.
This felt good.
---
It did feel good. It felt nice, it felt like just what Adora wanted, what she'd wanted for a while. "Huh. Maybe I should, then." Her arms squeezed around him a little in a hug, and she let her chin rest on his shoulder as she relaxed. "I'm thinking that I could start with stylized portraits for commissions, see how far that gets me. It's sad that I can't do more surrealistic work, but I'm afraid I probably am about 40 years too late. Rene would be quite annoyed at me for not having done anything after he died."
---
Duncan snorted, leaning his head back to brush his cheek against hers. Were they snuggling? They rarely snuggled. Even post-sex, they were generally on their feet away not too soon afterward.
"You absolutely can, to the right people."
Then he felt a sudden jab against his back, and slowly lifted himself up before turning around to grin. "Someone's against me leaning on their roof, it seems."
---
Adora had felt that, too, and she winced a little as Duncan sat up. She chuckled a little and glanced down at her stomach. "Hey, you. Don't do that to Duncan. He's nice, remember? He makes sure your mom eats well and doesn't get all pissy at people." She reached down, patting her stomach a little and looked over at Duncan with a smile. "To be honest, I think he or she likes you and is excited when mommy gets to hang out with you."
----
"Really? How can you tell? Little Ritz tapdance again, eh?" he asked, looking down at her stomach like he had x-ray vision.
---
"Oh, is that what we're calling the parasite? Little Ritz?" Adora chuckled, reaching out and poking his nose. "That's fine. I'll just make sure to tell the little tyke 'You know why we call you Little Ritz all the time? Because your Uncle Duncan likes to come up with random-ass nicknames for people. That's why he still makes fun of your mommy not having a last name.'"
---
"No, I meant, was he doing a little tapdance, 'Puttin' on the Ritz' type dance but...uhhhhh.." his eyes rolled around as a slow open mouthed doggy grin grew on his face. "NOW I totally am calling it Little Ritz, and there is NOTHING you can do to stop me."
---
"Noooo!" Adora laughed, reaching up and messing up his hair. "No, you are not calling my child 'Little Ritz', I don't care what you say! I will withhold that non-traditional sex we were talking about!"
---
"Jezebel," he said, laughing and reaching over to poke her side. "Fine. No Lil' Ritz."
---
Adora squirmed, surprised at the ticklish spot he'd suddenly found, squeaking indignantly. She could have sworn that was not ticklish two days ago!
"No, get off me!" She laughed, reaching out to try batting his hand away. "No fair! No tickling! Only I'm allowed to tickle!"
----
Duncan pulled his hand back, grinning. "Oooh, when are you pregnant enough to pee yourself? When's that? Huh? Huh?"
---
Adora gasped indignantly at him, then squinted her eyes at him and pointed at him. Just... pointed. As if somehow that would say it all. "Don't... you... dare...."
---
He grinned. "I promise I won't even tickle you....when you're on my sofa."
---
"Are your fingers crossed or something?" Adora started to look and see if she could see his hands. "I don't believe you." Using the momentary distraction, Adora's hand shot out to tickle him in the ribs in retaliation.
---
"Of course not. I don't want you peeing on MY sofa--ooh!" he jerked sideways, then clear off the couch to a stand.
"Listen, Pregnant lady, are you eating anytime soon? After locking me away from Jang-Geum like you were a teenager hiding a boyfriend from your mother, I'm starving."
He grinned. "We should eat. Then I touch your girly bits? Eh?" he reached out to make grabbing motions, then laughed at himself and pulled his own hands away, shoving them into his pockets.
---
Adora rose an eyebrow at the sheer acrobatic feat that Duncan had just successfully maneuvered, and then his subsequent little bout of fake lechery. It was hard not to laugh at him. All the time.
"Food is a good idea. Actual food is very good. What do you feel like? We could cook, we could order, or... I dunno, settle for cafeteria slop, but it's Friday, I don't want to." Adora stood up, waving the coupon book in front of his face. "And uh, don't think I've forgotten about this."
----
He reached out to snatch it, but missed. "I believe that's mine."
---
"Oh, yeah? How you gonna get it back from me?" Adora chuckled, waving the book in front of him again, just out of reach, sticking her tongue out at him playfully.
---
"Well, I could 'withhold non-traditional sex,' like some other mean and sadistic succubus I know."
---
"That's not fair, though. Because, see," Adora pouted pitifully, batting her eyes at him and being her normal tempting self. "If you do that... that's tantamount to starving me... and you wouldn't want to starve me, would you, handsome?" Her voice had dropped back into that sultry purr she had. Although, come to think of it, she hadn't actually watched to see how he reacted when she did that.
---
Duncan twisted his lips to the side, jaw clenching, giving her that 'youuuuuuu!' dangerous glare, but of a playful nature without malice. "You're too good. Fine, take it back if you like, but then who's to use them?"
---
"Mmmm... good point. But, y'know, you could just take it from me." Adora was clearly being an evil woman, but, she couldn't help it. She loved teasing Duncan. It was the kind of thing she could do all damn day.
---
"Oh, so you eat first, then, that's fair, I suppose. You're the lady here."
---
Adora laughed some, bopping him in the head with the coupon book and dropping it in front of him. "Oh, you silly man. I didn't say I had to eat. I just meant that you could give me a little incentive... since you stomped over here without an invitation and you seemed fairly intent on something when you got here." Adora was walking over towards the wall to go grab her purse and find her phone.
----
"Ah, well, perhaps," he said, wondering if mentioning the mood shift was wise. It would probably just.. make her angrier at Jang-Geum. "Mostly I wanted to demand if you knew the whereabouts of the no doubt obviously deranged sexpot who had planted this book in my domicile."
---
"Ooooh, a deranged sexpot?" Adora chuckled, raising an eyebrow and starting for her kitchen. She was starting to think ordering out was a good idea. Where did she have all her menus? "Is that what you think it was? I think that if it was a deranged sexpot, wouldn't they have just waited in your bed naked or something instead of leaving a book?"
---
"I thought of that," he called, watching her carefully while he could still see her, "but then figured this particular deranged sexpot was not very creative or inventive."
---
Adora paused at the playful slight, clearing her throat and tapping her phone idly on the counter as she started to rummage through her drawers looking for the menus. "Oh? And, uh... why would you say such a thing?"
---
"Ohhhhh, nothing," he said, because it was clear they were just being idiotic with each other by this point. After listening to another few seconds of excavating, he said, "What on Earth are you looking for, the Holy Grail?"
---
"I thought I had a Chinese food menu..." Adora muttered as she got lost looking in a drawer and pulled out a few other menus, still not the one she was looking for. "This is quite frustrating. I'm sure I had it somewhere."
---
"I seem to remember an evening where we ordered pizza at my place, and you made fun of my delightfully organized take-out menu binder with the plastic slipcover pages...."
---
"That's because it was possibly the single most gay thing I'd ever seen, and yes, I do mean that in a highly hyper-organized homosexual sense." Adora glanced over at him from her spot in the kitchen. "Thankfully, I don't have to worry about your sexual preference. I already know what you prefer."
---
"WELL THEN, I guess I should float on over on my fluttery wings to my gay apartment to have an organized, homosexual meal...to be found in my gay-ly made binder."
He made to get off the sofa.
---
Adora saw him starting to get up and gave up the search for menus, instead bounding over to him to stop him before he could left. "On second thought? Let's go get food so that I don't have to think about the idea of what a homosexual meal for you would mean." She grabbed his hands, starting to pull him towards the door.
---
He laughed, forcing himself to actually be pulled. "I thought we were ordering in. I liked that idea. I have Chinese on speed dial on my cell phone," he said, a little sheepishly.
---
"Ooooh, that's right, I should have known." Adora reached down and slipped her hand into his front pocket, searching for his phone with a playful grin on her face. "You had pizza on speed dial, too. I should really expect that from you."
---
"What would you do without me?" he asked, with a grin, letting her hands fish however they liked.
