If Sydni had had the energy to care, she would have been annoyed at the scent of sex on Charlie; not because she didn't think he and Ava should be screwing, but because of what she had lost. As it was, she didn't feel anything, or even much register Charlie's confusion.

Sydni's explanation was matter of fact and unemotional, indicative of her numb state of mind. She didn't even acknowledge the pups, only holding her hand out for licking, but not petting them.
