Duncan and Quinn
Quinn volunteered for being a chaperone for the dance as well because she liked the responsibility of making sure everyone was safe and having a good time. So far, so good. The school was not so different from her previous teaching job, despite the fact that she taught younger students than most of the people here. It was important to look good for the occasion and she chose a form-fitting dress. If it was the right colour for her or not was doubtful, but her sister had insisted it was good and Quinn trusted her word.
After scanning the hall for misbehaving students, she caught sight of Duncan on the opposite side of the room. Excellent, just the person she wanted to see. Not that she had been looking for him much.. Quinn walked towards him with a stride more confident than she felt and gave him a smile. "Hello," she said. "Great to see you again!" She held out the present she'd been holding at her side. "Happy belated birthday." If he opened it, he would find a leather bound journal accompanied by a fountain pen.
