Nox shook his head and grinned. "Not good enough, Hope. I can out drink your whole nation. It's simple biology. You're a scientist, you should know." She wasn't just a scientist, she was brilliant, and she knew more about supernaturals than most the people at TJS.
"Hesper? Doubt it. She visited last month, actually picked the locks on the door to get in. She won't be back for at least another month. You know how she is.. she doesn't visit often.. unless she needs something." Food, money, a place to crash, an ex-boyfriend arrested. There were a variety of reasons. She rarely visited just because she missed her twin, and while Nox didn't appreciate being used, or verbally abused, he was always happy to see her. It was his job as her brother to help her.
Just the same, he got up from the couch and quickly packaged up the food and stowed it away in the fridge. Maybe he'd eat it tomorrow. Returning to the sofa, he plopped down as though he had suddenly gained twenty pounds. Maybe he had. He brought two fresh beers with him, and popped the tops before handing one to her. "Enjoy it.. this is your last unless you plan on staying here tonight. I may not be a cop anymore, but I'm not about to let you drive under the influence."
